At present, Mitt Romney and Liz Cheney are headlining the Republican turncoat show, with Susan Collins playing the screw-you-every-other-vote supporting role she’s been in for 25 years.
Under normal circumstances, a couple of Republicans who can’t be trusted would be factored into the political equation. We live in an era rife with extraordinary circumstances, however, and the likes of Mitt Romney and Liz Cheney cannot and should not be tolerated. Dissent is one thing; spiteful revenge politics in a time of crisis are another.
Romney seems to be aware of the fact that he’s ruined his political career with his votes and is now saying that he isn’t sure if he will seek reelection in 2024.
“I’m going to cross that bridge down the road,” Romney told The Hill. “I haven’t given a lot of attention yet.”

You no doubt recall that the Navy Seals who executed Osama bin Laden also made off with a treasure trove of al Qaeda documents.

The papers have now been declassified and analyzed. There is no shocking news, but much that is of interest. In a handwritten note, bin Laden explained how he got the idea for 9/11:
In the note he explains that he had been reading a news
report about the disgruntled pilot al-Batouty who deliberately crashed EgyptAir Flight 990 from New York to Cairo off the New England coast, killing 217 people, on October 31 1999.
Turning to his associates, Bin Laden asked: “Why didn’t he crash it into a financial tower?”

The Fed Is Running Out of Ammunition
The next few months could be choppy.
Wall Street is beginning to price in challenging times ahead, and the Fed is unlikely to engineer a “soft landing” – an economic downturn that would avert a recession.
Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, however, is optimistic.
At the Fed’s March meeting, he said “the probability of a recession in the next year is not particularly elevated.”
But, as I’ve written many times, the Fed tends to get these things wrong…

The irony is the new CNN+ service just had a titanic failure of a launch in March. There are already discussions of company layoffs happening as soon as May.
It seems not many customers want to pay for the type of programming they were not even watching when there was no extra cost for it.
The supposedly seasoned news veteran Wallace, 74, staked what remains of his career on this shaky proposition.

GOP votes to withdraw from
presidential debate panel
The Republican National Committee (RNC) voted Thursday to withdraw from the commission responsible for organizing presidential debates, taking a line from former President Trump, who has repeatedly leveled accusations of anti-Republican bias against the group.
The unanimous vote by the RNC effectively bars its presidential nominees from participating in events organized by the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD), which has run such debates since 1988.
In a statement released shortly after the vote, RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said that the GOP would “find newer, better debate platforms to ensure that future nominees are not forced to go through the biased CPD in order to make their case to the American people.”

Seven Months Later
You remember the images. And you remember the 72-point-font front-page headlines. What you may not have noticed earlier this week, though, is the 10-point tiny-type story on page D12 of the Border Patrol agents being cleared of all criminal charges in that fake, phony, fraudulent news story about them having “whipped” a group of illegal immigrants while on horseback.
Any idiot could see that the mounted agents were using reins to control their horses, not whips to punish the Haitian illegals.
As NewsBusters reports: “Now that the agents are in the clear, all three networks — ABC’s World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, and NBC Nightly News — were more interested in covering local weather reports, The Library of Congress adding new songs to their registry, and El Salvador using Bitcoin as their national currency.”

World War II is the good war, the one where evil was defeated. But there was always a rub. The great ally of England and America was not a democracy. It was a totalitarian power. And it did the heavy lifting, which is to say that Stalin's Red Army carved up the German Wehrmacht. It engaged, at a horrific cost, in the big battles that settled the course of the war that Stalin's original gamble—conniving with Hitler and his henchmen to conquer and divide Poland, the western Ukraine and the Baltic States in 1939—had helped bring about. It was the Red Army, in short, not the American or British one, that fought the battle of Berlin in the spring of 1945 to liberate the German capital from the Nazis, a pivotal moment closely covered by Michael Dobbs in his forthcoming book Six Months In 1945.
Winston Churchill had said he he would "sup with the devil" if it would help bring about victory. So he—and Franklin Roosevelt—did. They allied themselves with Stalin, even pretended, at least publicly, that he was a fine man and the Soviet Union an even finer place. Now, with the release of numerous documents from the National Archives about Stalin's murder of over twenty thousand Polish officers and intellectuals in the Katyn forest in 1940, we know in even more detail just how far they were prepared to go to extol and defend the Soviet Union.

Sexual promiscuity is making our children sick. And yet we continue to tolerate educational and entertainment content that pitches casual sex to our children.
Seriously, on just about every aspect of sexuality, the Left has it wrong. Their preferred policies have already done incredible amounts of individual, familial and societal damage, and yet they keep pushing for more — and getting away with it. It’s bad enough when those negatively affected are adults. But children are increasingly the targets — and the victims — of these policies.

Helping Kids Sprout Wings of Independence
The most amazing story I’ve heard in years is told by H.D. Miller in “The Abernathy Boys Go for a Ride.”
In 1910 when Bud Abernathy, age 10, and his brother Temple, age 6, saddled up their horses and rode without adult supervision from Oklahoma to New York City to see their hero, former president Theodore Roosevelt, give a speech. Recently returned from an African expedition, Roosevelt invited the boys to ride with him in a parade.
Bud and Temple then shipped their horses home, bought an automobile, and drove back to Oklahoma.
A year earlier, they had also ridden by themselves from Oklahoma to Sante Fe, New Mexico and back, a 1,300 mile odyssey.

Hillsdale rides classical education boom as parents seek alternatives to woke K-12 schools
Hillsdale College is expanding its footprint to accommodate parents frustrated with woke classroom instruction in their local K-12 schools.
Since 2010, the conservative Michigan-based college has helped open 21 charter schools and partnered with 33 others in 27 states through its Barney Charter School Initiative, offering classical education focusing on civic virtue and moral character.
“We are growing like wildfire,” Kathleen O’Toole, Hillsdale assistant provost for K-12, said in a Dec. 9 virtual town hall. “And we’re careful about our growth because we want to make sure every school that we are working closely with is an excellent school. It’s hard to start a school. It’s really hard to start an excellent classical school, but it’s also really necessary.”

Sean Penn is putting together a team of hand-picked mercenaries to be deployed behind enemy lines in the Russian-Ukraine conflict. The team consists of Hollywood actors who have played action roles in movies and "know how to handle a prop M-16."
Mr. Penn announced the concept in an extensive interview this past week. "It's a thing I've been working on since I tried filming the documentary in Ukraine. At first I really wanted the US to send in some of the pathetic losers we have in our military. After the Biden / Afghanistan thing, it's clear nobody really cares what happens to them, right? They might as well die in Ukraine, defending freedom instead of harassing peace-loving Muslims."
He continued, "But then I figured out that I actually have no control of our foreign policy. A sad day. The only choice left is to take direct, decisive action. I talked to my agent who talked to the agents of a select, hand-picked squad of actors and we're starting it up. I mean it - the plan is to airdrop us all in a limo behind enemy lines and cause mayhem, just like the dirty dozen. It might sound a little ridiculous at first, but I'm no stranger to violence and can handle myself. You remember how I sucker-punched photographers in the 80s, man? That was no joke - that was real. I'll be fine."
He went on to mention some of the people involved and their role on the team. Here is a summary of the team so far:
"Let me say first: we can't fail - we have Rambo. Yeah, Stallone signed up immediately and is still in great shape. You'd never guess he's 79." ....

POLL: Cancelling student debt popular among people with absolutely worthless degrees
US—A new Pew Pew Institute poll shows the socialist concept of cancelling student debt promoted by Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren is gaining popularity, especially among students and graduates with absolutely worthless degrees.
“I have a Trans-Siberian Aquamarine Gender Studies degree,” said Bella Folorn, who uses the ‘they’, ‘their’, and ‘aquaman’ pronouns. “And I can’t seem to find a job to pay off my $120,000 education, so yeah I think we should cancel all student debt.”
Many see education as a right—even education for absolutely insane degrees as Intersectional Diabetes Management and Postmodern Marxism in Patriarchal Scandinavia.
“I suppose everyone who wants to keep us enslaved to the money changers just wants a completely illiterate populace, huh?” Folorn said.
The push comes at a time when employers are finding many college degrees to not be worth the paper they are printed on. Many college graduates lack writing, critical thinking, and general social skills.
