NATIONAL SCHOOL BUS SAFETY WEEK! | | This week, the North Allegheny School District celebrated National School Bus Safety Week! Thank you to our bus drivers and the NA Transportation Department for keeping North Allegheny students safe on the road every day. We truly appreciate everything you do! | | ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTERS | | MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWSLETTERS | | ROAD CLOSURE - POTENTIAL TRANSPORTATION DELAYS | | |
An upcoming road closure may impact school bus schedules next week.
Beginning Monday, October 26, through Friday, October 30, the 2400 block of Brandt School Road in Franklin Park Borough will be closed for road work by the Allegheny County Department of Public Works, with a local detour in place throughout the duration of the project.
To navigate this closure, the North Allegheny Transportation Department will adjust affected routes, which may lead to minor delays during morning pickups and afternoon drop-offs. Please note that even if your student’s bus route does not directly travel on Brandt School Road, delays on an earlier route using the detour could cause residual delays for subsequent runs later in the day.
Our transportation team is working diligently to keep all routes running as smoothly and on time as possible, and we encourage families to build in a few extra minutes for morning pickup times next week.
If you have questions or concerns about your child’s route, please reach out to the North Allegheny Transportation Department.

Four Carson Middle School students recently spent time at the Leadership Training Institute as part of the Chief Science Officers (CSO) program! Sixth graders Stella Armstrong, Madi Dailey, Caroline Gao, and Gwendolyn Gassert attended the first of two annual sessions alongside their teacher advisor, Laura Pacini. During the institute, students learned key leadership skills and began developing an action plan to engage the school community in STEM.
The North Allegheny School District is proud to support our students in the CSO program. Open to students in grades 6–12, CSOs serve as STEM ambassadors and liaisons for innovation within their schools and broader communities. By raising awareness of STEM careers and empowering students to amplify their voices, the program makes a lasting impact on the future of STEM education.

The Foundation’s mission is to enhance and enrich the educational experience at North Allegheny, and we’re now accepting applications for grants projects that support our mission. Any North Allegheny School District staff member can apply.
When & How to Apply
The application period is open through November 13.
| |
Types & Amounts of Grants
The Foundation will consider any project that supports the Foundation’s mission. We have approved grants for broadcasting equipment, LEGO robotic kits, classroom organizational items, stationary bikes for classrooms, books, materials that help support students’ emotional growth and mental well-being, musical instruments, equipment for service projects, and much more. No idea is too big or too small. There is no restriction on dollar amount. The Foundation has approved grants from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars.
Try to show how your project will impact as many students as possible and a clear connection to enhancing the curriculum. Collaborating with your colleagues can be helpful.
When considering grant applications, the Foundation uses a three-question rubric:
- Does this grant support North Allegheny’s Strategic Goals?
- What is the level of impact of this grant on schools and classrooms?
- Does this grant fit with the NA Foundation’s mission?
Applications for classroom furniture, field trips, professional development, and student club activities typically are not approved.
Timeline
After the submission period closes on November 13, the Foundation will review the applications and send their recommendations to the Board of School Directors for approval at their regular meeting. After the Board approves the recommended grants, notification emails and checks will go out within two weeks. All applicants will receive an email notification with the decision on their grant.
