2022 October Buzz

Zoo Boo October 21-23

Zoo Boo is THIS WEEKEND. The Zoo will be closed for regular hours. Zoo Boo hours are 2-8 pm on Friday and Saturday, and 10 am - 4 pm on Sunday. Many thanks to sponsors UFP Industries, Granger, Sweeney Julian, FastSigns, U-93, and all the businesses helping us pass out candy!

We’ll have a Trick or Treat Trail with vendors in part of the Zoo so visitors can also enjoy walking around the decorated Zoo, riding the attractions, and looking at animals (more animals will be visible during the day). A ticket to trick or treat will be included with every paid admission.

This year, regular admission will be $12 per person, and Zoo Member admission will be $6 per person. Train and Carousel tickets will be $3 each and this year, visitors can use their Attraction Passes. The Haunted Train WILL be scary after 5 pm, so please use your discretion riding with children.

Advance admission is available. It isn’t required, but it may help speed up the line. If you have advance tickets, enter the Zoo through the Field Trip Entrance (between the two buildings).

Ssssspooky Activity Box

Our Educational Activity Boxes are a great way to have a fun time at home this fall. This month, the theme is Ssssspooky Animals: creatures people might find a little scary. Our featured Ambassador Animal is Klim, the Honduran milk snake.

In your Ssssspooky Box, you’ll get a painting made by Klim and access to an exclusive video all about him (plus, you can watch him paint!). You’ll also get a plush animal and all the supplies you need to do a scavenger hunt, science experiment, and craft at home.

You can either order these boxes online to ship ($40) or buy them in the gift shop while supplies last ($35)! Zoo Members receive a 10% discount on Sssspooky Boxes.

Thanks, Zoo Volunteers!

Many thanks to the Granger Community Church for helping clean the Zoo last weekend! They're one of many volunteer groups that have helped with landscaping, Zoo cleanup, setup and, pumpkin carving this year.

If you'd like to volunteer for Zoo Boo this weekend, or volunteer for any other reason, we'd love to have you be part of our Zoo Crew! Volunteers are individuals or groups, and are usually age 13 and up.

When The Season Ends

The 2023 Zoo season ends October 31, but that doesn't mean the Zoo's doors are closed for the year. We're still looking forward to The Gift of Lights, starting November 25!

Also, keep an eye out for some special holiday activities with our Education Department. We'll be offering some animal encounters and crafting classes that help make the holidays even more memorable.

We're also scheduling off-season birthday parties (indoors).  They're a great way to see what's up at the Zoo when we're closed.
