Purpose and Function

The Office of Small Business Development is committed to ensuring fair and open access to procurement and contracting opportunities sponsored by the School District. We support the participation of small businesses through certification programs, outreach events, training workshops, contract reviews, project readiness evaluations, bid preferences, and tailored networking opportunities.

Our goal is to promote competition by removing barriers that may limit participation. We work closely with internal departments to ensure qualified small businesses have a fair chance to compete for contracts at all procurement levels, including both prime and subcontracting roles.

Building Relationships for Business Success

Building valuable and meaningful relationships is essential for achieving business success in today's quick-moving world. In the past, successful small business owners have used smart networking techniques and built connections to discover valuable insights and opportunities. They relied on their networking skills and experiences to achieve their goal. Networking creates opportunities for important partnerships and resources. It builds a support system that improves decision-making, increases confidence, and encourages connections for successful networking, leading to a great profitable business.

Through our most recent Business Growth Forum, the Office of Small Business Development facilitated potential partnerships for upcoming projects and mentorship opportunities with carefully selected industry experts representing diverse experiences and expertise. Read more...
