Friends of St. Francis of Assisi
October 4th is the Feast of St, Francis of Assisi. "Francis believed that nature itself was the mirror of God. He called all creatures his "brothers" and "sisters"; he even preached to the birds, and supposedly persuaded a wolf in Gubbio to stop attacking some locals if they agreed to feed the wolf. "Blessing of the Animals: Churches worldwide mark his feast day by inviting parishioners to bring their pets for a traditional blessing in honor of Francis's deep love for all of God's creatures.
On another note, welcome to the world of Diolun Designs, where art and nature are the source of inspiration. The latest member of the menagerie, may well be the charming "fella", who hails from a garden/field in Maine. A regular visitor, he is becoming a member of the family and perhaps the next protagonist in my collection. (The design will be a headache for sure, Mr. Porcupine!...)
