Greetings!
Springtime brings sunshine, flowers, and LOTS of programs and events!
Water Ski is gearing up for a wet and wild season at Modesto Reservoir, bowling continues its year-round sessions, and Golf with First Tee starts soon!
One-day events include Day on the Farm Saturday, June 20, and mark your calendars for a Bowling Fun-Raiser on August 22!
A huge shoutout and thank you to Michael Scott, who recently shared his daughter Jenna’s story at our recent fundraising Gala. Here are his words:
“Jenna was born 4 weeks early, a bit less than 25 years ago, with a chromosome translocation. That’s where a piece of one chromosome ended up attached to another. The doctors told her mother and me that the variation of outcomes is extensive. When she was 8 years old, I was surfing the net looking for opportunities for her when I stumbled on the site for Society for Disabled Children and Adults. There was a winter ski date on the upcoming Saturday. It was the last date of the year. That was the beginning of our 16-year relationship with Society for disABILITIES. So far, things have been fantastic. Since then, she has participated in Water Ski, Winter Ski, Soccer, Bike Camp, Day on the Farm, Bowling, Ice Skating, Special Needs Ball, and Miracle League Baseball. We feel incredibly grateful to Society for disABILITIES and all that they have offered Jenna over the years through their well-managed sports and activities. The benefits of these programs have been enormous for Jenna -They keep her active, help with coordination, develop social skills, contribute to positive self-esteem and have helped her become a supportive team player. Her involvement with Society has impacted us all in a profound way.”
Michael’s willingness to share with the public helped communicate our mission and bring our goals to life for those in the room. Heartfelt testimonials like hers are the BEST way for us to let our donors and future clients know how the Society for disABILITIES changes lives. No change is too small to be noted; we want to hear how the Society has made a difference for you and your family.
Share your thoughts and words at this LINK, and they will be privately sent to us. Real-life experiences that are shared can help us secure grants and gain donors, supporting us now and into the future as we work to make a difference.
We appreciate you all!
