CANDIDATE WEBSITES: If you are in the 192nd State House District in West Philly, support Tiffany Vann.
While we are based in West Philly, we recognize that this newsletter goes to other areas. If you are in the 5th Congressional District, vote for Nick Manganaro for Congress. If you are in the 2nd Congressional District, support Jessica Arriaga for Congress. For State Senate we have Rev. Todd Johnson running for State Senate in the 4th District. Vote for State Representative Martina White in the 170th District, Robyn Bird in the 177th District and Bill Griffin in the 173rd District. There are areas there where we did not field candidates, so if there is a blank, write-in a Republican.
IMPORTANT NOTE: On our sample ballot for the 3rd Congressional District, there is no Republican candidate. We had one candidate circulate nomination petitions, but we were unable to obrain enough signatures for him to qualfy. We had another candidate run a write-in campaign, but he also did not get enough votes to receive the nomination. We greatly appreciate the efforts of both of them. State Representative Chris Rabb is the Democratic nominee and the only candidate against him is Dennis Mahoney, who is running on the Independent Party. Part of the Republican Party's responsibility is to provide voters with alternatives, starting with candidates. We failed to do that for this seat this year, regardless of the efforts of our candidates. It is, however, a binary choice. Mr. Mahoney is not a Republican and we disagree with many of his policy positions. That being said, he is much closer to sane than his opponent. Think about voting for him. If you disagree with our recommendation, go head and write someone in. We think that Rabb is clearly the wrong choice for Philadelphia.
BALLOT QUESTIONS: QUESTION 1: Since the City came to its senses and stopped discriminating against contractors based on their gender and race, they want to allow themselves to discriminate for other reasons. Ever think of ONLY considering price and value? VOTE NO.
QUESTION 2: They want to create a new agency under the city charter that they could create without a charter change to pander to some group or another. Doesn't matter what agency it is. VOTE NO.
