The Surprising Connection Between Meal Planning and Estate Planning Done the Right Way

On a Personal Note...

The first full week of school is in the books and it was exhausting! Everyone seems to be settling into the school routine even though my little one cries at the door every morning just to make me feel terrible before I start the work day. Hoping for better drop offs this week!

Mondays for Moms:

Planning Ahead is the Greatest Gift

Families often don’t realize that when you don’t plan for the future, you teach your loved ones that their security isn’t worth intentional planning.

But when you do plan the right way, you give your loved ones the gift of clarity. You protect their time, their energy, their attention, and their money—so they can focus on what really matters: love, connection, and carrying your values forward. You also give yourself peace of mind, knowing that you’ve done the right thing by the people you love most.

Estate Planning is about so much more than creating a set of documents. It’s about creating a system that works when your family needs it, reflecting the same values you live by every day.

Estate Planning should work to protect your families time, energy, attention and money when it matters most.

WEEKLY FAQ: What's the biggest mistake people make with their estate plans?

Answer: Thinking estate planning is a one-time event. Set it and forget it doesn't work because your plan needs to reflect your life and the law as much as possible when you die or become incapacitated if you want the plan to work.

Here's what happens: People create their estate documents, file them away, and never look at them again. But tax laws change constantly. Missing one technical detail on a required tax filing can cost your family millions in unnecessary taxes.

I recently read about a family that lost $1.5 million because of a simple paperwork error that seemed minor at the time. Not only that, but the law had changed and it sounded like no one was looking out for the family to make sure this didn’t happen.

Many don't realize they're sitting on a ticking time bomb. Even if your estate is smaller today, growth through investments, inheritance, or business success could put you in the danger zone tomorrow - if you have a set-it-and-forget-it plan.
