NRH Vision, Mission & Goals Updated

At a work session earlier this month, the City Council updated the City’s vision and mission statements and developed new goals that will guide decision-making at all levels of City government. The goal-setting process is done every two years to build Council consensus and provide a clear direction for the future. The City Manager and staff will use the City Council’s vision, mission and goals to set priorities, direct work activities, and allocate staffing and resources in the coming months and years. The work session, which was held over two days, is available for the community to watch online. The City's new vision, mission and goals are:

Vision

To be the standard for transparent, resident-focused, fiscally responsible, business-welcoming municipal government in Texas.

Mission

To promote an exceptional quality of life for our community by being resident-focused, fiscally responsible, and business-friendly.

Goals

  • Drive operational excellence into every area.
  • Become easier to do business with.
  • Steward the public’s money well.
  • Be a great place to work.
  • Revitalize neighborhoods and commercial corridors.
  • Engage residents to enhance connection with the city and their neighbors.
  • Improve safety, security, and infrastructure every day.

Main Street Work Begins Next Week

Motorists should slow down and watch for workers on Main Street between Smithfield Road and Amundson Drive, starting next week. Contractors for Atmos will begin work to relocate a gas line on the south side of the roadway. Main Street is expected to remain open to traffic in both directions during their work. After Atmos’ project is completed this fall, the City will reconstruct Main Street, between Amundson Drive and Amundson Road. Text Main to 888777 to receive project updates.

During their July 22 meeting, the City Council awarded a contract to XIT Paving and Construction Inc. for the reconstruction of Main Street between Amundson Drive and Amundson Road. The existing roadway will be replaced with reinforced concrete pavement and sidewalks will be added where currently missing. Underground utility and drainage improvements will also be made. A portion of Main Street will be closed during the street reconstruction project, which will allow the contractor to work more efficiently and finish in 8 months, instead of 12. During the closure, traffic will be detoured via Amundson Drive and Amundson Road.

The upcoming improvements to Main Street are part of the Street Bond Program that was approved by voters to reconstruct 27 streets. Learn more at www.nrhtx.com/2020bond. The City is also planning to reconstruct Main Street between Smithfield and Davis. That project is currently in the engineering design phase.

Don't Fall Victim to Real Estate Scams

Whether buying, renting, or investing in real estate, NRHPD encourages you to protect yourself with these tips:

  • Research Thoroughly - Verify the legitimacy of the property and the seller/landlord. Visit in person if possible.
  • Beware of Unrealistic Prices - If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Scammers often lure with low prices to attract victims.
  • Use Reputable Agents - Work with licensed real estate agents or trusted platforms to ensure transactions are safe and legal.
  • Inspect Contracts Carefully - Read every detail of contracts before signing. Don't hesitate to ask questions or seek legal advice.
  • Never Wire Money in Advance - Avoid wire transfers or sending money before verifying the authenticity of the transaction.

Stay vigilant and protect your investments! Share these tips with friends and family to raise awareness. Together, we can keep real estate transactions secure.
