Union Spotlight: Laborers' Local 942


The Laborers’ Apprenticeship Program began in 1994. Teachers share years of experience and knowledge in the classroom and hands-on instruction and training in all facets of the Laborers' craft. The goal of the Apprentice Craft Laborer Program is for each apprentice to reach Journeyworker status. Studies and on-the-job training focus on the following areas:

General Skills •  Heavy Highway Construction •  Building Construction •  Specialty Construction


Minimum Requirements

· Be at least 18 years of age

· Be a high school graduate or have a certificate of equivalency (GED)

· Be an Alaska resident for the last twelve consecutive months

· Have a Valid Alaska Driver’s License

· Be physically fit
