Two Opportunities to support Sanctuary Village
Sanctuary Village is a non-profit that is working with the City of Philadelphia to build its first tiny house village to provide housing to older women living on the streets of Philadelphia. It will be on city-owned land and the City's Office of Homeless Services will pay for services (Case management, meals, medical care, etc). This will be the first village of its kind in our part of the country but it is based on a very successful model being used other places in the US. More info is available at our website ( www.tinyhousecommunity.org).

Home Run 5K race/walk to raise funds for Sanctuary Village
Christ Lutheran Church in Harleysville at 2211 Mainland Road is excited to be hosting the Home Run 5K race/walk to raise funds for Sanctuary Village, the community of tiny houses for those who have no roof or walls in Philadelphia. Race day is September 17th. Check-in opens at 8:00 am and the race start is at 9:00 am. A shorter 1K fun run/ walk will be begin at 9:45.
There are 4 ways members of the SEPA Lutheran Community can help:
- You can run or walk, and encourage others to do so. The registration flyer is linked below. Please share it liberally!
- You can either be a sponsor (and get your church name on our nifty t-shirt) or invite the businesses you and your church frequent to be sponsors. They get good publicity – we get resources to help people who need it. A win-win! That info is also attached.
- You can volunteer on race day. There is a need for volunteers at the registration table, parking, water stations, as a first aide person, with the race timing process, and at the awards table. If you are interested in volunteering we have a job for you. Call Christ Lutheran at 215-256-8738 and let us know that you would like to help. We will work with you to find an appropriate and helpful task.
- You can pray for our success. This is our first Sanctuary Village 5K run, and it is quite the undertaking. Any and all prayers are very welcome!
Thank you so much. Getting this project off the ground has been challenging, but together we can “get over the finish line.”
