Greenview Students "Lead with Literacy"

Last week, 83 members of the Greenview National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) and Student Council, along with family volunteers and staff, spent a meaningful day giving back to the community. With training and support from the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, students traveled to Sunview, Adrian, and Rowland to share the joy of reading with kindergarten and first-grade classes.

At each school, students gathered in the gym, listened to Mrs. Apryl Buchanan read a favorite story, and then partnered with book buddies to read aloud. Our Greenview students demonstrated their practiced expression, engagement, and leadership when reading aloud to our younger students.

Every child received a donated book and bookmark, generously provided by The Book Bank and our student groups, along with a family literacy handout to encourage reading at home.

The service day continued with a visit to the Fatima Family Center for a tour of its Black History Museum, followed by a stop at the Baseball Heritage Museum. Students participated in a readers theater highlighting the important role of youth during the Civil Rights Movement, enjoyed time together in the game room, and shared lunch—capping off a day filled with literacy, learning, and community connection.

Help Select the Brush Centennial Logo!

Brush High School opened its doors in Janaury 1927, making the Class of 2027 the 100th graduating class and the 2026-2027 the centennial year for Brush High School!

We will be celebrating this exciting milestone all year long! To prepare for the festivities, the district asked Brush High School students in Mr. Bellett's design class to create original logo design concepts for the Brush Centennial during their logo design unit.

The centennial committee selected five finalists — and now it’s your turn to choose the winner.

Visit the voting form to select your favorite! You may only vote for one logo and you may only vote once! Vorting will close on February 28!

Safety Awareness Lessons to Take Place in March

School Resource Officers (SROs), from both the Lyndhurst and the South Euclid police departments, will join the instructional team as part of the district’s commitment to student safety and well-being.

SROs will be embedded as part of the educational fabric within K–3 schools and will participate in the delivery of a Safety Awareness lesson with Grade 3 students from March 2-March 16. Their involvement will further strengthen the collaborative approach to student safety and support.

From the PTA

Celebrating an Incredible PTA Founders Day

Our PTA Founders Day celebration was filled with laughter, tears, and community spirit. Founders Day gives us the opportunity to honor the remarkable women who established the National PTA in 1897; Alice McLellan Birney, Phoebe Apperson Hearst, and Selena Sloan Butler. Their commitment to improving the lives of children continues to inspire the work we do today.

This year’s event was especially meaningful as we gathered to celebrate not only our founders, but also the dedicated individuals in our own community who embody the PTA mission. Our honorees represent the very best of service, leadership, and advocacy for children and families. Their time, energy, and heart make a lasting difference in our schools and throughout our district.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and helped make the evening so special. From those who planned and organized the event, to those who came out to show their support, your presence reminded us that PTA is strongest when we come together.
