Six State Farm Bureaus Urge the USDA to Fund New Clean-Up Initiative
Chesapeake Bay state farm bureaus and agricultural leaders are urging the USDA to fund an initiative to reduce farm runoff into the bay and its waterways. Six farm agencies urge U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack to fund the $737 million Chesapeake Resilient Farms Initiative. Read more about the initiative here.

CFAP 2 Assistance - Contract Livestock Growers
USDA has expanded their Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 to include contract producers of broilers, pullets, layers, chicken eggs, turkeys, and hogs. Producers can qualify for up to 80% of their revenue losses. The deadline for assistance is October 12th. Read more about the program here.

Farmers across the Mid-Atlantic as well as volunteers joined efforts to provide relief to those affected by Hurricane Ida. In total, more than five trailer loads of farm-fresh chicken, beef, pork, eggs, milk, cheese, yogurt, apples, peaches, collard greens, potatoes, corn, and tomatoes left to be delivered to communities in Louisiana and Pennsylvania.
