Southeastern Community College celebrated the state-of-the-art renovations of its auto collision lab, precision machining lab, and the new Harry and Virginia Art Gallery on its West Burlington campus this month. In addition to holding tours of the Keokuk Campus facilities, including the Industrial Technology Training Center (ITTC), recently upgraded nursing labs, student lounge, and a peek at the progress made in the current renovation of the library.
The total cost for the West Burlington facility and equipment upgrades tops $1.25 million. The renovated labs will facilitate expanded learning and teaching opportunities for skills development. The upgrades were funded by the State of Iowa’s Accelerated Career Education (ACE) program.
ITTC building opened its doors in 2017 to offer the now 15-year-old industrial technology program an enhanced learning experience with state-of-the-art labs for mechanical and electrical technology training. It was built at a cost of $4.2 million, funded in part by a $1 million grant from the US Economic Development Administration.
In 2019, SCC’s Keokuk campus updated its science labs and patient simulation lab, and added classroom amenities that have added high-tech learning opportunities for the students. The $800,000 makeover was made possible by generous donations made to the college’s Building the Dream campaign.
