"You are not here merely to make a living, you are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand.” – Woodrow Wilson

How much should we tip Housekeeping now?
I have always tipped housekeeping. I figure if someone is going to clean up my dirt and my toilet, I should treat them well. In the time I have been traveling, the role of the housekeeper has become harder and harder. More complicated rooms, shorter times to do a room, and now since the pandemic….

A few years ago (pre-pandemic) I realize I had been tipping the same amount for over 10 years, and increased it. I also increase it if there is a suite, or they do something special, or for some reason there is a real mess in the room. I have been reading more articles recently and I am now upping that. Fewer people doing more work, and the option to not have housekeeping is actually making it harder on them.

We passed a housekeeper cleaning a room last week, I am guessing after check out, and there were at least two full size garbage bags stuffed with garbage. And because of where we were, the time of week and year, I am guessing they were not there for more than two to three nights. I would hope everyone in this industry takes care of housekeeping.

What Happens When A Hotel Sells Everything it Has?

Adding One Sentence to Every Email Can Free Up Hours
This is brilliant. I know I was always convinced that I need to answer everyone’s email immediately. This past year that changed. And this article has such a good way to handle this.
