A New Gateway Takes Flight

Greetings!

If you’ve driven past the intersection of Maple Avenue and Turtle Creek Boulevard recently, you’ve probably noticed that our newest gateway into the Turtle Creek Corridor is taking shape—and what a transformation it has been.

At the center is Crow 1, the magnificent sculpture by artist Arie van Selm. New landscaping now surrounds the sculpture, and as the ornamental grasses mature and begin to move with the breeze, the vision will become even more apparent: the Crow will appear as though it has just landed in a meadow along Turtle Creek.

There are still a few finishing touches ahead. A seasonal color bed will eventually fill the area in front of the new Turtle Creek Corridor signage, but with the Texas heat still firmly in charge, we’re waiting for cooler temperatures before planting. Electrical work is also pending. We are working with Unique Lighting and Oncor to bring power to the site so both the signage and Crow can be illuminated at night, creating an entirely different experience after sunset.

This beautiful new gateway would not have been possible without some very special friends of Turtle Creek. Once again, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Brenda and Clay Cockerell for their generous donation of the Crow sculpture, and to Centurion American, Elyce and David Walthall, Donna Zick, and an anonymous donor for helping fund this important enhancement to the corridor.

Projects like this are a wonderful reminder of what can happen when people who love Turtle Creek come together with a shared vision for its future.

And speaking of coming together, October is almost here! The first weekend of October brings two of our biggest events of the year—the Turtle Creek Association Gala on Friday, October 2, followed by our Tour of Homes on Sunday, October 4. You’ll find much more about both events in this issue, and I hope to see many of you there.

Until then, enjoy this first glimpse of our newest gateway. It’s not quite finished—but the Crow has officially landed.

Warm regards,

President | CEO

Behind the Doors:

The 2026 Tour of Homes

What’s behind some of Turtle Creek’s most intriguing doors? On Sunday, October 4, you’ll have the chance to find out.

The highly anticipated Turtle Creek Association Tour of Homes returns, offering guests rare access inside some of the most distinctive private residences in Dallas. And this year, no two homes are remotely alike.

Step inside a dramatic multi-level penthouse with sweeping views across Dallas, explore an art-filled urban loft, and discover sophisticated contemporary residences filled with bold architecture and unexpected design.

Along the way, you’ll encounter soaring ceilings, walls of glass, expansive terraces, dramatic staircases, custom kitchens, museum-worthy art and luxurious primary suites. One home celebrates the raw beauty of concrete, exposed ductwork and industrial architecture, while another surrounds you in polished stone, rich finishes and glamorous Art Deco-inspired details. Still another takes high-rise living to an entirely different level, spanning multiple floors with enormous outdoor terraces and panoramic views across the city.

A sneak peek inside one of this year’s extraordinary homes—where art,

architecture and personality live beautifully together.

Whether your taste runs sleek and modern, industrial and unexpected, or glamorous and timeless, there’s something on this year’s Tour guaranteed to inspire.

This isn’t a tour of homes that all look alike. It’s a tour of how differently—and beautifully—Dallas lives. Take a sneak peek inside this year’s extraordinary homes.

Honorary Chair - Carolina Pace

We are honored to recognize Carolina Pace as Honorary Chair of this year’s Gala & Tour of Homes. Throughout her remarkable life, Carolina has exemplified leadership, intellectual curiosity, creativity, and service while helping shape the Dallas community she has always called home.

A graduate of Southern Methodist University, Carolina began her career in the arts with the Dallas Theatre Center before building an accomplished career spanning publishing, marketing, education, and consulting. In 1982, she established her own company, Carolina Pace, Inc.

Her professional interests also led to a deep involvement in education and special education, including work as a reviewer and consultant for the U.S. Department of Education and service on numerous advisory boards and task forces supporting educational resources for children with special needs.

Equally remarkable has been Carolina’s commitment to Dallas. Over the years, she has served on numerous boards and initiatives supporting the arts, libraries, historic preservation, transportation, downtown development, and the Trinity River. Her civic involvement has touched some of Dallas’ most recognizable places and institutions, including the West End, Union Station, Old Red Courthouse, and Downtown Dallas.

Perhaps what best defines Carolina is her willingness to do more than simply care about her community—she gets involved. For decades, she has brought her intelligence, energy, creativity, and generosity of spirit to making Dallas a better place.

Carolina has spent a lifetime not simply watching Dallas grow and evolve, but helping shape its future. We are deeply grateful for her friendship, leadership, and extraordinary legacy of service, and we are proud to honor her as this year’s Honorary Chair.

Thank you, Carolina.

To Our Sponsors, With Gratitude

Every beautiful evening, every successful event and, most importantly, every improvement we make along Turtle Creek begins with people and organizations who believe this special place is worth protecting.

To our 2026 Gala & Tour of Homes sponsors, thank you. Your generosity reaches far beyond these two events. It helps us care for the creek, preserve its tree canopy and natural beauty, maintain the landscapes that define the corridor, and continue investing in projects that will protect Turtle Creek for generations to come.

Some of you have supported the Turtle Creek Association for many years. Others joined us for the first time this year. Whether you are a corporation, foundation, local business, community partner, or individual donor, you have chosen to stand with us—and we are deeply grateful.

The pages below represent far more than a list of sponsors. They represent a community of people who believe, as we do, that Turtle Creek is one of Dallas’ treasures—and that caring for it is a responsibility we share.

On behalf of our Board, staff, members, and everyone who enjoys Turtle Creek each day, thank you for believing in our mission and for making our work possible.

We simply could not do it without you.

Stewardship in Action

Our Monthly Report from the Field

Our August Trash Free Waterways report is attached and provides a behind-the-scenes look at the work required each month to keep Turtle Creek clean.

What makes August particularly interesting is the amount of trash collected despite very little rainfall. As we’ve shared previously, a significant amount of litter enters Turtle Creek through the stormwater system, including storm drains along Central Expressway. Typically, rainfall sends that debris into the creek. So why are we seeing this much trash during an unusually dry period? It raises an important question: Are there other sources contributing to the pollution of Turtle Creek? It’s something we’ll continue to watch closely.

We are also seeing an increase in illegal encampments along the creek, which can generate a substantial amount of debris. When an abandoned encampment is discovered, TCA removes the trash and cleans the site. When an encampment is occupied, we work with the City of Dallas and the appropriate outreach teams to address the situation. Until a long-term solution can be found, TCA will continue doing what we can—cleaning these areas and protecting the creek.

The August report also documents several fallen trees and large amounts of organic debris in and along the creek. We are working with the City to address the larger trees, while TCA will engage a vendor to cut and remove smaller organic debris where appropriate.

It isn’t always the most visible part of what we do, but it is one of the most important.

This is how we turn stewardship into action.

If our story resonates with you, we'd be honored to have you become a member. Together, we're keeping our promise to Turtle Creek.
