Update from the recent meeting of UWFaith's national Program Advisory Group leaders:

UWFaith CEO, Sally Vonner, said “In our foremothers’ day, their independence was limited and yet they found a way to navigate unjust systems and boldly stand up for their rights and the rights of others.”

PAG member Lisa Maupin called on members to “Challenge the injustices of this world. . . Be the person of faith that responds when the world is crying.”

National UWFaith President Jana Jones told those gathered this is their time “to be bold, to step up and to act.”

I thank God for all of you because this sisterhood encourages, strengthens, and comforts me. Hopefully, it does the same for you. I pray we will all stand up to injustice whenever we encounter it!

Wendy Campbell, 2025 HTC UWFaith President

Between "Oh, Lord" and "Thank You, Jesus!"

Blog from Karen Kaigler-Walker,

Horizon TX Spiritual Growth Coordinator

“My father asked an elder woman in his congregation, “How are you doing, Mother?” She replied, ‘I’m living between "Oh, Lord" and "Thank you, Jesus!’” For the most part, many of us are living in between - not quite at “Oh, Lord” and not quite at “Thank you, Jesus!” As women, that’s certainly how we live. Most of the time we toggle somewhere in between small joys and . . . read more.

OUR 2025 PROJECT:

The Jerri Savuto Girls Center

...Chosen because together we can make a BIG IMPACT and change lives!

The Jerri Savuto Center was the dream of a woman in Kenya and our partnership blossomed during COVID. Now girls are thriving students instead of being child brides. Learn how you and your group can support this 2025 project here.

BECAUSE OF MY FAITH, I CARE!

Supporting the 2025 Mother Bill

FIX IT! Postcards Update:

UWF Members Across Texas Influence "Life of the Mother" bill with postcards

Members of UWFaith and clergy joined Texas Impact for a press conference at the capitol in support of the Life of the Mother bill, HB44. Rep. Charlie Geren, R-Fort Worth, the bipartisan bill's sponsor, thanked UWFaith members for their efforts in supporting the need to clarify when doctors are allowed to perform medically necessary abortions to save the life of pregnant patients based on a physician's reasonable medical judgment. This would remove confusing language about medical emergencies that made doctors hesitant to provide life saving abortions. The Texas Impact FIX IT! campaign has generated over 6000 signed postcards across the state of Texas.

Then UWFaith members visited every legislator's office to hand out a folder with a spreadsheet listing the constituents in their individual districts who signed postcards. Also included was a compilation of all of the comments written on the postcards, which took eight-pages, front and back, in 7 point font, as well as a press release asking for their support of the bill.

Help Legislators get the message by sending more signed FIX IT! postcards to our legislators. Learn more about this Common Concerns project and how you can help here.

Thank you HTC UWFaith members Deb Hughey, Marilee Hayden, and Kim Batchelor for your dedication to this project.
