Newest Initiatives

1. VIP ISRAEL FAMILY TRIP – JULY 2023
The Chai Center is currently organizing a VIP Israel trip in July. We are working on the itinerary now and beginning to reserve rooms in hotels over the country. We will have our own private guide throughout the trip as well many meals are covered as well.
If you have any interest in knowing more, please contact Rabbi Saacks at Rabbi@thechaicenter.com
2. NEW MONTEFIORE CEMETERY - THE CHAI GARDENS
As the Chai Center grows in members and friends, so do the activities and programs which accommodate the growing needs of our community.
A recent addition to the Chai Center was the acquisition of the “Chai Gardens”, a section in the New Montefiore Cemetery in Wellwood, for the benefit of the Jewish residents of Dix Hills, Melville and vicinity. This cemetery is to be used for all Jews of our community, the affiliated and non-affiliated alike.
We have purchased 50 graves located at New Montefiore Cemetery in Wellwood. We are taught that pre purchasing a grave is a talisman for long life. The Chai Center will be selling these graves on a first come first served basis.
The fee structure is as follows: $4000 per grave. This purchase may be paid out over 12 months with a 25% deposit down.
Should you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to call the office at 631 351 8672 or Kevin Gray at Star of David Chapels at 631.454.9600.
With blessings for a long and happy life filled with nachas, joy, prosperity and meaning.

The Week in Review: Preschool

CHAI CENTER PRESCHOOL
Messy play is a great way to enhance children's sensory development and gives them the freedom to be creative. During messy week the children were able to express their thoughts, freely build creations they've wanted to build and try new things while experimenting with different materials and textures.
For more information about our program, you can also visit our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/JewishPreschool and go to www.TheChaiCenter.com.

FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE
We are so grateful to all the families and teen leaders that donated to our fundraiser.
Thank you to teen leads Ava Sobel for running sports, Emily Dean for running bowling, Sam Guerio and Lauren Klein for running hip hop, Carly Miller for running chorus, Faith Merlob and Sydney Steinfeld for running the kindness class, Julia Lacher and Alex Blitzer for running cooking, Skykar Sukoff and Samara Richie for running art. Thank you to our board members Gale Paul and Brad Becker for all you have done to help make sure the FC runs smoothly as well as running fall hip hop, chorus and cooking. Thank you to Nicole Dean for running our fall bowling program.
We had a fabulous time at our last cooking class learning how to make banana bread, practicing our routines at hip hop and chorus, making playdough animals in art, making special gifts for our teen leads in kindness class and playing sports with our friends. Our Hanukkah party was great making latkes and singing karaoke and looking forward to our 2nd holiday party at Gigis Playhouse where we will be making gingerbread houses and dancing.

Story of the Week
|
He's Not the Czar
The first Lubavitcher Rebbe, Reb Schnuer Zalman of Liadi, was arrested for a second time and held under house arrest in Moscow. His was released on the third day of Chanukah. The Rebbe was able to see into the royal gardens from the window of the house where he was confined. One day, he saw Czar Paul strolling through the gardens and commented that he was no longer czar. Shortly thereafter, Paul was assassinated.
When asked about his apparent display of divine inspiration, the Rebbe commented that a king below is a reflection of the King above. When he saw Paul in the garden, he did not perceive that Divinity. He therefore concluded that Paul would be assassinated.

A Bit of Humor
|
Sam, an elderly gentleman had serious hearing problems for a number of years. He went to the doctor and the doctor was able to have him fitted for a set of hearing aids that allowed him to hear 100%.
Sam went back to the doctor a month later for a check up. "Your hearing is perfect. Your family must be really pleased that you can hear again," said the doctor.
The gentleman replied, "Oh, I haven't told my family yet. I just sit around and listen to the conversations. I've changed my will three times!"
