Sunnyvale's First Major Grocery Store is Open!

The new Tom Thumb located at 3400 N Belt Line Road in Sunnyvale, TX is now open to the public. Town leadership and development partners celebrated the grand opening with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 16. The store opened its doors to the public on Dec. 17.

Tom Thumb customers can now explore the long-awaited 59,000-square-foot store, featuring everything grocery shoppers need to fill their pantries and host their events. Up and down the aisles of the new Tom Thumb, shoppers will find it fully stocked, featuring tens of thousands of items and more than 1,000 local products. Customers at this store will enjoy the fresh departments Tom Thumb customers know and love, including Bakery, Deli, Meat & Seafood, Produce, and Floral. Shoppers and community members will also love the in-store Starbucks coffee kiosk, Pharmacy in-store plus drive-thru lane, and Drive-Up-N-GoTM grocery pick-up.

The Town of Sunnyvale approved an economic development incentive in 2024 to include the state-of-the-art grocery store as part of the Gateway Park retail center on Belt Line Road and Town East Boulevard. That retail development spans 240,000 square feet and will include additional retail, restaurants and other services.

“One of our key strategic priorities is to attract and retain businesses that align with our community’s essential needs and identity. We believe our investment in this development will continue to improve Sunnyvale’s quality of life," said Sunnyvale Mayor Saji George. "As Mayor, I want to express my appreciation for the Town Council, 4B Board, and all of the development partners involved for their collaborative efforts, which have brought us to this exciting day.”

Get to Chile and Spice!

Learn more about these pets and others on our Petfinder page

Chile (male) and Spice (female) are 14-week-old domestic short-haired cats: Orphaned as babies, they were fostered and now need their forever home. They are spunky and full of energy and enjoy chasing each other around. They will provide your family with tons of laughter and would love to join your family for Christmas. They can be adopted together or separately. Adoption fees are waived through Christmas for all shelter pets.

We would love for you to share this with others and bring awareness to the Sunnyvale Animal Shelter's animals and services. If your family is ready to welcome a new member, we currently have many adoptable pets in our shelter looking for a loving home. Learn more by visiting our Petfinder page or calling (214) 862-4525.
