A Note from our Executive Director

Jeremy Melusky

Hello everyone!

August marked a remarkable month for TacT, as we proudly served a total of 1,676 meals, contributing to an impressive 10,892 meals provided since January. This incredible achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to alleviating hunger in the Taunton community, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our supporters. As we turned the page into September, we embarked on essential renovations that promise to enhance our facilities significantly.

Thanks to the generous $10,000 grant from Bristol County Savings Bank, we have begun purchasing new windows and front doors, paving the way for a more inviting and welcoming environment for families and individuals in need. Together, we are taking significant strides towards creating a space that embodies warmth and compassion, and we invite everyone to join us in this journey by supporting TacT's mission through donations or volunteer opportunities. Your involvement is vital in sustaining this essential community resource!

What's Cookin'

You know all those tomatoes, zucchini and eggplant you have grown in your garden? Well this is the perfect recipe to combine them into a nutritious side dish. This month's recipe is Ratatouille.

Volunteer Spotlight

Ann has been an invaluable cornerstone of TacT since its inception 11 years ago, embodying the spirit of community and compassion that defines our organization. As a cherished member of our Tuesday crew, she goes above and beyond to ensure that every new guest feels not only welcomed but truly valued, making it a priority to connect with them personally to share essential information about our services. Her thoughtful gestures, such as providing toiletries to those in need, reflect her deep commitment to supporting others. Ann’s warm and approachable demeanor allows her to engage with every guest, regardless of their mood.

Furthermore, her leadership in spearheading the Craft Fair fundraiser on November 7 showcases her unwavering dedication to TacT's mission. By rallying her fellow Tuesday crew to transform her vision into reality, Ann exemplifies the power of teamwork and the importance of fundraising in sustaining our ability to serve those facing food insecurity.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ann for her remarkable contributions, which foster a compassionate atmosphere at TacT. We invite everyone to join us at the Craft Fair, not only to support our organization but also to honor Ann's inspiring vision and commitment to uplifting our community.

Healthy Eating Tip

Bump up fiber

Fiber helps maintain digestive health and helps us feel fuller longer. Fiber also helps control blood sugar and lowers cholesterol levels. Fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds are good sources of fiber.

To bump up fiber, try this:

  • Slice raw vegetables for quick snacks.
  • Start your day with a whole-grain cereal, like oatmeal.
  • Top your whole grain cereal with berries, pumpkin seeds, or almonds.
  • Add a half-cup of beans or lentils to a salad to add texture and flavor.
  • Enjoy fresh fruit with a meal or as dessert.
