Happy Friday, friends!

This Sunday, October 25, is Blue Ridge Day of Voting at Central United Methodist Church!

Check out the preview of Pastor Lisa as she shares why voting matters and what our United Methodist Book of Discipline says about our responsibility to participate in the life of our communities.

As people of faith, we are called to live out our values, care for our neighbors, and be engaged in the world around us. One way we can do that is by making our voices heard.

Sunday, October 25, is the final day of early voting! Make a plan, get out and vote, and encourage others to do the same.

Let's put our faith into action!

We hope to see you this Sunday at 10am for worship, and afterwards you can head to the polls!

We hope to see you there!

We Hope You Will Attend the Church Street Organ Crawl Spooktacular AND Fall Festival

October 30th

The three organists from Central UMC, First Presbyterian, and Trinity Episcopal Churches will present a Spooktacular Organ Crawl followed by Central's Annual Fall Festival festivities. The Crawl will begin in Central’s sanctuary at 5:00 p.m. followed by a walk to First Presbyterian and then Trinity, with 15 minutes of delightfully spooky organ music in each location.

Both Trinity and First Presbyterian will have trick-or-treating. Everyone is encouraged to wear costumes. We will end up back at Central by 6:00 pm and the fun continues with our annual Fall Festival, happening on the front lawn and parking lot. There will be games, inflatables, costume contest, chili cookoff, and more! Here are some ways you can get involved: donate candy, make chili for the chili cookoff, host a booth, help with setup or cleanup.

Please reach out to Maggie Christy if you would like to get involved.

Tour Curbie Recycling Center with Creation Care Ministry

November 11 at 10AM

Central's Creation Care Committee is sponsoring another tour of Curbside Management's (“Curbie”) recycling facility in Woodfin. A few of the things we will learn are which items can and can't be recycled, why they can't, and where Curbie sends the recycled items.

The tour is Wednesday, November 11th, 2026 at 10am. The tour lasts about an hour. Participants must be able to walk up stairs and be on your feet for an hour.

We will meet near Curbie and carpool to its facility. If you are interested, you can sign up by contacting Ellen Furney via email at efurney08@gmail.com.

Creation Care Eco-tip

Make it a challenge for participants then provide “awards” like LED bulbs, gift cards, etc.

One Step at a Time: Don't get overwhelmed by all the ways you can support the 3 R's (reduce, reuse, recycle).

Make a decision about what you can do today, then do it. Add other items as your first decision becomes routine.

ABCCM Needs You!

Here's an update about ABCCM’s Crisis Ministry:

The last several weeks there has been little or nothing in the Donation box and I don’t want folks to forget about ABCCM when the need is so great! I know with gas over $4/gal, the crunch is real for everyone and groceries are SO expensive. Our donations have really fallen off from everywhere at ABCCM. The pantry has gotten short on so many items, and it has become difficult to supply even basic food items to folks living on the margins. -- George Pettus

We are in need of for the ABCCM Clothes Room:

  • Men's jeans/slacks, particularly waist 32-36
  • Men's shoes, particularly 9-11 sizes
  • Hoodie sweatshirts, Men's M-XXL

Thank you for your support!

Reconciling Ministries will meet

Sunday, November 4th at 11:45 AM in Room 219.

Social Principles Focus for October

"We believe war is incompatible with the teachings and example of Christ.... We are called to love our enemies, seek justice, and serve as reconcilers of conflict.... the first moral duty of all nations is to work

together to resolve by peaceful means every dispute that arises between

or among them." Social Principles 165.C Matthew 5:9 "Blessed are the

peacemakers for they will be called children of God".

Upcoming United Women in Faith Meeting - Ruth Circle
