Ed Strong's career is a testament to his adaptability and willingness to embrace change. Despite initially planning a career in public accounting, Ed took a calculated risk by joining one of his clients, a decision that led to 18 fruitful years with the company. His success can be attributed to several factors:
Risk-taking: Ed wasn't afraid to step out of his comfort zone, leaving public accounting for new opportunities.
Interpersonal skills: He excelled at building relationships across departments, particularly with top management.
Strong work ethic: Ed credits his success to his dedication and hard work.
Personal Life
Ed's personal life has had its share of challenges, including a difficult divorce 35 years ago. However, he has been happily married for more than 30 years now, demonstrating his resilience and commitment to family. Today, Ed and his wife enjoy a vibrant family life with three children and six grandchildren, all living within a 50-minute radius of their home.
Interests and Future Plans
An avid enthusiast of outdoor activities, Ed enjoys golf, pickleball, kayaking, biking, and hiking. He's also passionate about cycling, bocce, skiing, walking, and non-fiction reading. Currently working part-time from home for a healthcare technology company, Ed plans to transition into volunteer work in the future.
Education and Professional Background
Ed earned his BS in Accounting from the University of Hartford in 1975 and has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1977. His career took an unexpected turn when he found himself working in New York City for 20 years, despite initially vowing never to do so.
Joining Y's Men
As a self-described introvert, Ed acknowledges that making new friends hasn't always been easy for him. However, his friendly nature and willingness to connect with others make him an excellent addition to our community. He's looking forward to meeting new people and participating in the various activities offered by Y's Men.
Ed's diverse experiences, professional expertise, and enthusiasm for new connections make him a valuable addition to our organization. We warmly welcome Ed Strong to the Y's Men of Westport/Weston and look forward to the perspectives and energy he'll bring to our community.
