SUMMERTIME IN THE LBC: LET'S SORT RIGHT!

Did you know that many common summer items end up in the wrong cart? By taking just a few extra seconds to properly sort items, you help reduce landfill waste and protect our local environment.

From beach days to backyard BBQs, here is how we sort right in Long Beach:

  • Recycling (Blue Cart): Keep it empty, clean, dry and unbagged! This is the home for your empty aluminum beverage cans, glass bottles and jars, and clean foil trays.
  • Organics (Green Cart): Feed the compost! Place watermelon rinds, BBQ meat bones, grass clippings and food-soiled paper napkins in your organics cart.
  • Trash (Black Cart): Some items can't be recycled or composted. Toss your plastic utensils, plastic cups, beverage cartons, broken plastic toys and garden hoses in your trash cart.

Let's have a fun and sustainable summer, Long Beach!
