We still have an immediate need for volunteers to participate in our Reading Buddies program, which pairs corporate and community volunteers with 1st and 2nd-grade students for a weekly read-aloud program.

Upper School students also need your support! We have an immediate need for tutors at our 5 upper schools listed above. The Learning Center program pairs volunteers with students in grades 6-8 for a weekly tutoring session where volunteers will assist with homework assignments, reinforce study skills, and provide general academic coaching.

Run for CSV

Please join Cambridge School Volunteers in welcoming two new program coordinators to our team, Caroline and Raul! They will be managing our afterschool Learning Centers for upper school students and NetPals STEM mentoring program for 7th graders. We are thrilled to welcome them to the CSV family this school year!

Caroline Sabin

Caroline is a veteran English teacher and we have no doubt her experience will be a valuable asset to CSV and the CPS community. Caroline's endless enthusiasm and skill were on full display last year, when she volunteered in multiple CSV programs, including Reading Buddies, Learning Center, and the Tutoring Center, making her a perfect fit for her new role!

Raul Madera Torres

Raul is a Cambridge Public Schools graduate, giving him a unique perspective and understanding of upper school students! With deep roots in the community, especially in academic support and youth development, Raul will bring an insightful vision to his programs. In his spare time, you can find Raul coaching little league baseball in North Cambridge!

Free and open to new and returning volunteers, working with students at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

Participants will learn about key aspects of child and adolescent development. How are students growing socially and emotionally, and how does that influence their relationships and their learning? What kinds of behaviors can we as tutors and mentors expect to see in our students and how can we best support them?

Alice Cohen will provide you with tools and strategies to help you understand and connect with the students you are working with. She will also share best practices for engagement, sustaining attention, supporting resilience, and dealing with conflicts.
