4th Annual Trunk-or-Treat
A&M-San Antonio's 4th Annual Trunk or Treat event is coming up soon, Friday, October 28, 2022 from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. There will be safe trick or treating hosted by our student orgs and campus departments followed by a free moving showing of Beetlejuice!
Other fall and festive activities available, completely free of charge: face painters, fall crafts and Halloween activities, balloon artists, photo backdrop - all events will be hosted in Lot 1 and in Patriots' Casa.
If you are interested in hosting a trunk yourself, please reach out to the office of Transfer Student Engagement or fill out an application.
Awards for the best trunk, people's and judge's choice, will be given out as well. The first 350 people who check in for the movie will get a hot dog combo pack!

Texas A&M University-San Antonio Zoo Ring Day
Texas A&M San Antonio in collaboration with the San Antoni Zoo is expanding upon the University's ring day traditions by placing the University ring boxes to be guarded by the jaguars overnight. The University ring boxes will be placed in a large wooden box in the Jaguars enclosure.

This is an exciting development, especially for our on-campus residents, to participate in the H-E-B Campus delivery program. Texas State Employee Charitable Campaign
About SECC
The Texas State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) was created through legislation in 1993 to raise funds for charitable organizations throughout the state, the nation, and the world. The campaign runs annually from September 1 through October 31.
Why Should I Give to the SECC?
· Lots of these charities help lots of our students.
· It helps you support a favorite cause or charity on a regular basis.
· It makes A&M-SA a strong community partner.
· It makes you feel great.
· It is tax deductible.
· You may already be involved with one of these charities or may be in the future.
How Can I Give to SECC?
To make a gift, visit https://sso.tamus.edu from September 1 - October 31, 2022 and select SECC Enrollment, then find the recipient(s) and select the amount of your contribution(s) per each recipient.
What Organizations Can I Give To?
Through the SECC, there are thousands of charities and non-profit organizations available. You can also give to student scholarships through the Texas A&M-San Antonio Foundation. The SECC campaign includes several different categories or “federations,” including: United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, Local Unaffiliated Charities, Local Independent Charities of Texas, Creating Healthier Communities, Earth Share and more! Reproductive Rights Research Guide
The Library published a Reproductive Rights Research Guide on their website. It includes books, articles and films that the Library owns. The guide also offers information about abortion, including a video about the significance of the recent court case; birth control, including information about free condoms on campus; and select community resources. Mays Center Celebrates Five-Year Anniversary and Ready to Work Partnership
The Mays Center announced their new partnership with San Antonio Ready to Work and Workforce Solutions Alamo at the Mays Center five-year celebration and held an official signing of the agreement.
The $6.7 million contract will go towards tuition and emergency funds for the A&M-San Antonio community. Ready to Work is an educational and job placement program aiming to help the community by improving San Antonians' quality of life. Click here to read more.

Texas A&M University-San Antonio receives insight into diversity 2022 Higher Education Excellence In Diversity (HEED) Award
Texas A&M University-San Antonio received the 2022 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education. As a recipient of the annual HEED Award — a national honor recognizing U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion — A&M-San Antonio will be featured, along with 102 other recipients, in the November 2022 issue of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine.

Grant to Enhance Quality of Life for Nursing Home Residents
Texas A&M-San Antonio recently secured State funding for an interdisciplinary, community-health project, “Bingocize: Social and Physical Engagement to Enhance Quality of Life.”
The three-year project, led by Associate Professor of Psychology Dr. Dawn Weatherford, who is the principal applicant and project director, will implement the Bingocize® program in 24 Certified Nursing Facilities across South Texas from January 1, 2022– December 31, 2024. A&M-San Antonio is currently the first in Texas to apply Bingocize® as part of its instructional programming. To read more click here.

Students Attended a Research Seminar at the Southwest Research Institute
Math Program Coordinator Professor Burak Aksoylu and his students in his MATH 3340 Linear Algebra and MATH 4374 Numerical Analysis classes took a field trip to Southwest Research Institute on October 6, hosted by Dr. James Walker, director of the Engineering Dynamics Department. Students attended a research seminar by Professor Aksoylu and Dr. Walker had a one-hour conversation on internship opportunities at SwRI, and math and computing skills required for simulations done at the institute. They concluded with a tour of the research facility.
