What kind of wine is this regions known for?
Bordeaux-style red blends make up some of the most acclaimed wines coming out of the Commonwealth. While their blending percentages vary greatly across vineyards and vintages, the wines are consistently lush and layered. In addition to Bordeaux blends, wines made from grape varieties like Viognier, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are outstanding and as well as the bright, crisp, white wines made from Petit Manseng, a Southern France variety.
Is there free time built into the trip?
This trip does not include designated free time. Since this trip is only 3 days, we want to ensure you are getting the most you possibly can out of this region for the short time we are there!
How do I arrange travel for the Wine Country Experience?
For our Wine Country Experiences, we always begin and end in the same location. For this Virginia Wine Country Experience, we will begin and end at our hotel in Chantilly, VA. If you are flying, it will be most efficient to fly in and out of Washington Dulles Airport (though the Ronald Reagan Airport or the Baltimore Airport could be other options). If you plan to drive, you will be able to park your car at the hotel for the duration of our trip, as transportation is provided for the duration of the Wine Country Experience itself.
Will The Educated Grape be providing any transportation to Virginia?
The majority of the people in our community are from the tri-state area, so we have received this question a few times. We will not be providing transportation down to Virginia, but if you are interested in carpooling with other attendees, we will be happy to facilitate organizing that as we get closer to the trip!
I have questions regarding this Wine Country Experience, who should I contact?
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Director of Marketing, Angelica (blickenderfera@gmail.com). She will be able to assist you with anything you need!
