Vista Point Trail: Safer Riding off the Bridge
September 30 a bike ride from the Golden Gate Bridge to Fort Baker and Sausalito got a little safer with the opening of the Vista Point Trail.
The paved trail, which routes cyclists and pedestrians away from traffic at the north end of the bridge, is located along a historic road that closed in 1999 for a seismic retrofit of the Golden Gate. Because of the closure, bicyclists and pedestrians were routed onto Alexander Ave. to mix it up with high-speed cars.
Officially Open
The completed trail project will officially open with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, September 30 at 3 p.m.
The Public is Invited!
San Francisco Bicycle Coalition (SFBC) is leading a bike ride to the September 30 event for anyone who can take the time. Meet at Inspiration Point on Arguello Blvd. across from the Presidio Golf Course at 2 p.m. Learn more about the ride and ribbon-cutting here.
