Taking Care of Your Pet's Eyes
Dogs and cats are prone to eye injuries, infections, and eye disorders, including conjunctivitis, cherry eye, and corneal ulcers. Taking care of your pet's eyes is the best way to identify these problems and prevent them from developing.
Check your pet's eyes regularly for signs of redness, irritation, or injury. Healthy eyes should be bright and clear. It's important to contact your veterinarian as soon as possible if you notice any abnormalities. Many eye disorders can be treated effectively if identified at an early stage.
After checking your pet's eyes, use a cotton ball moistened with lukewarm water to wipe away any discharge. We also recommend trimming any long hairs around your pet's eyes to prevent them from damaging the sensitive cornea.
Taking Care of Your Pet's Ears
Pets are susceptible to a variety of ear problems, including bacterial and yeast infections, allergies, ear mites, and foreign bodies. For this reason, it's important to take care of your pet's ears to ensure that they stay healthy.
We recommend checking your pet's ears at least once a week. Signs of a problem include discharge, inflammation, foul odor, and excessive wax buildup. Please contact your veterinarian immediately if you notice any potential signs of a problem.
First, use a moistened cotton ball to gently wipe your pet's outer ears and the openings of their ear canals to remove any visible dirt or debris.
Next, apply a few drops of virgin coconut oil to a cotton ball and use it to clean your pet's ears. When cleaning inside your pet's ears, never go deeper than the first knuckle on your finger. You can use Q-tips to gently clean around the ear crease, folds, or cutaneous marginal pouch (also known as "Henry's pocket"). Avoid using Q-Tips deep inside your pet's ear canals as they can damage the sensitive inner ear.
CocoTherapy Virgin Coconut Oil is an excellent, all-natural cleaner as the antiviral, anti-fungal, antibacterial, and antimicrobial properties of the oil help prevent infection and soothe irritation, leaving ears clean and healthy.
