Coalition for Jewish Learning E-Newsletter

I'm happy to share that on Friday, March 14 (Purim), Nicole Boico had a healthy baby boy. Everyone is doing well. His name is Asher Ethan. Pictures are below. May we continue to share good news! Mazal tov.

Meanwhile, the work of CJL continues. This month we have Pesach and Yom HaShoah (April 27) and Yom Hazikaron (April 29). Next month we have the Walk for Israel (May 4). So many important ways to engage with the community!

And don't forget there are still many opportunities to earn LOMED credits. See the list of classes below. We really want to give out stipends, so please keep attending.

If you need anything while Nicole is out on maternity leave, reach out to Tzipi, Abigail, or Dalilah.

L'Shalom,

Passover

Passover or Pesach begins the evening of Saturday, April 12 (with the first Seder) and runs through Sunday, April 20. Passover provides additional challenges this year because it starts just after Shabbat. Read more about it here and check with your rabbi for advice!

Passover is one of the three major pilgrimage festivals and celebrates the Exodus from Egypt and the birth of the Jewish Nation. On Passover, we gather together for the Seder to connect with the experiences of our ancestors through slavery and into freedom. We fulfill the Biblical commandment to tell the story and to remember.

Salute to Jewish Educators 2025

Over 225 people gathered together at the 2025 Salute to Jewish Educators. It was so significant to have the opportunity to be together in joy instead of sadness. The positive energy in the room was palpable. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, attended, and supported our teachers. A huge thank you to all our wonderful Jewish Educators.

Student to Student

On Friday, March 14th, four Student to Student teen leaders were graciously welcomed to St. Mary’s Springs Academy in Fond du Lac to give presentations to 50 seniors in their World Religions classes.

Our teen presenters shared valuable information and personal perspectives on Jewish traditions and Jewish identities, all while making new connections with peers and having meaningful conversations across difference.

Not only does this program impact the non-Jewish students hearing the presentation, it also very influential for the Jewish teens doing the presentation. One teen presenter reflected:

"This was hands down one of the most meaningful and purposeful things I have been involved in throughout high school, and I’m so grateful for this unique and important opportunity we had! I think it was a wonderful and eye opening experience not only for them, but for us as well-we got to learn from each other, find common ground and appreciation for each other, though we live our lives differently. I hope we can do it another time again before I graduate. I also didn’t realize how much of an impact this experience would have on me-the open mindedness and warmth of this school was truly remarkable and gives me hope for our world!!”
