It's August!
That means it's time to start thinking about new mittens and gloves!
Greetings!

We hope that you and yours are safe and healthy. Things have changed a good deal in the past year, and we are looking forward to a great 12th Winter!

Our Community Collection Season starts on October 1st and runs through January 10th. Things are busy at Mittens for Detroit as we start our outreach for next season. Emails were sent to nearly 100 Community Collection Partners – and we look forward to having our Mittens for Detroit collection boxes popping up all over town in just two months! Before we know it, you will have donated tens of thousands of new, warm, durable mittens and gloves into those boxes. If you would like to join our Community Collection Partners, please send us an email at Info@MittensForDetroit.org. WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU ON TEAM MITTENS!

We also contacted all of our Distribution Partners, asking for their request for pairs for this winter. Our very exciting news is that we are expanding to include the 4,200 students in the Pontiac School District! This is something that we had hoped to do last season, but, well, the pandemic had other plans.

Thank you for all that you do – as a donor, Collection Partner, Distribution Partner, volunteer – as it's only because of you that Mittens for Detroit survived 2020. Somehow we were able to provide 16,400 pairs of new mittens and gloves last winter... we could not have done this without you.

We look forward to working together with you this year, as we continue to warm hearts, two hands at a time. Here are some ways that you can help us kick off this season strong!

Thank you for all of your support – we could not be more appreciative!

Are you lacing up to run or walk in the Detroit Free Press Marathon Events?
Why not run or walk for a reason and support Mittens for Detroit?

The Detroit Free Press Marathon supports both local and national charitable organizations with the impact being made in hundreds of different cause spaces. Over the marathon's 43 year history, charities have raised more than $23 million. Mittens for Detroit is proud to be one of the official charities this year!

Are you looking for a way to make a difference and have an impact on thousands of lives?
Join Mittens for Detroit as a volunteer!

As all of our lives move into a new normal, you might be looking for a way to make a difference and have an impact on the lives of others. Mittens for Detroit is interested in learning what you would like to do to help us get more hands into mittens and gloves as quickly as possible.

Perhaps you would like to join us with your team at a Big Sort event – where you will come to the office to count, sort, and pack the new mittens and gloves that come in from our generous supporters. How about sharing your special skills and talents to help us with outreach and public awareness? Maybe you are thinking that you'd like to be on our Advisory Board or join a committee? How about becoming a member of MFD's Board of Directors? Do you sew, knit or crochet? Maybe being a MittenMaker will be the perfect volunteer opportunity for you! Whether you want to help in the office or work virtually, we will make it work for you!

We welcome you to join Team Mittens as a volunteer this year. Lend a hand – you'll be happy that you did! If you usually coordinate your team's Big Sort event, you can email Wendy to get your next event set up.

Because of you, since 2010 more than one-quarter million pairs of new mittens and gloves have kept Detroiters warm. YOU are the reason that Mittens for Detroit works!
Thank you to our Volunteers, Donors,
Friends, & Partners...
You are amazing. Thank you for 11 years of hope, optimism, friendship, and warmth. We appreciate you.
Thank you for your kindness and caring.
You make this all work.
