SCHOOL CLOSED

NO SCHOOL on Tuesday but we will be hosting a last minute pop up bake sale. If you live in the neighborhood feel free to stop by and buy some treats! PS33 will be a polling place and we're hosting a bake sale for all the hungry voters coming by!

It is time to kick off another year of FUNdraising! Each year, the PS 33 Chelsea Prep Parent Teacher Association (PTA) raises money to supplement the school’s public education budgets: the NYC DOE funds provide for only basic educational and capital needs. One of two major funds we raise is the Annual Fund.

The goal of the Annual Fund is to directly and exclusively support the most beloved enrichment programs in the classroom and critical educational resources, including TADA, Center for Architecture, Third Street Music, recess coaches, Math Club, field trips, and many more! Our Annual Fund plays such a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience for both students and staff. Programs such as these would not be possible without your generous contributions. To find out more about the Annual Fund, please click HERE for the flyer.

PLEASE DONATE TO THE

TEACHER’S ASSISTANT FUND!

(*this is different from the Annual Fund - please read!*)

WHAT is the Teacher’s Assistant (TA) Fund?

The TA Fund pays for our TEACHER’S ASSISTANTS in K – 5th grades!  It is FULLY parent-funded, which is why it’s so important to contribute!!  Without your contributions, large or small, we will not have TAs to assist our teachers and work with our kids!

WHY are we asking parents to pay for Teacher’s Assistants?

The NYC  Dept of Education does not pay for Teacher’s Assistants.   Parent contributions are the only funds that can be used to hire these TAs.  If a grade does not raise sufficient funds to pay for the TA’s salary, that grade will unfortunately lose their TA for the remainder of the year.

PLEASE DONATE:

DONATIONS of any amount possible for your family are greatly appreciated!  We can’t do this without you!  This is really a SHARED responsibility and privilege!  Please be a part (in whatever capacity you can) of ensuring we can keep our TAs funded all year long!

  • All contributions are tax-deductible as permitted by law.

It’s easy! Just click on your child’s grade below - and THANK YOU!!

COACH ARMALI

OUR RECESS COACH

For six unforgettable years at PS 33, Coach Armali has been a beloved figure among students of all grades. Known for his infectious energy, he brings joy to recess, leading extensive games of tag and often seen doing cartwheels, engaging with kids in the most fun and spirited ways. His vibrant presence is felt even when he's not around; the school truly misses him when he's away.

Outside of recess, Coach Armali is a passionate musician, often found strumming his guitar during his spare time. His favorite food? Shrimp tacos, a delicious treat that mirrors his zest for life. Coach Armali firmly believes in the power of positive energy, often stating that the energy you give is the energy you receive. With his upbeat spirit and commitment to happiness, he leaves a lasting impact on everyone at PS 33.

PS33 Chelsea Prep Families!

We're excited to introduce this year's main fundraiser, the PS33 Chelsea Prep Glow Run. Our goal this year is to raise $25,000 for in school enrichment to benefit ALL students at PS33 Chelsea Prep.

We’re excited for this fundraising experience because it offers 3 important things to our school community: a user-friendly fundraising platform, a character enrichment program and a fitness-focused event that includes ALL of our students.

As a family, you will work together asking friends and family to donate on your student’s

Donation Page at MyBooster.com. The best part is, you can still support our school just by

SHARING about the fundraiser!

Students will also experience an amazing character enrichment program called “Castle Quest”, teaching students about how to be brave and live with character.

On October 25th, we kicked off our beloved Falloween fundraiser filled with thrills and excitement. In this event, we raised $9,000 towards the in-school enrichment programs for our children!

A huge thanks to the Falloween co-chairs Sharnette Rhoades, Aneesa Garcia, Bushra Mannan, and Saman Mahmood and everyone else involved in the committee in making this event such a success.

THANK YOU to the parents and staff volunteers who dedicated their time donating candy, snacks for the concession stands, items for the raffle, and getting internal and external donations, to setting up booths, hosting booths during the event and cleaning up. Thank you also to staff members Coach Ramos and Teacher Ms. Kissane for hosting a game booth and dance party with the kids, and to DJ Mr. Manzano for the most awesome halloween music, dance party, and announcements. The kids were so excited and had so much FUN! Many thanks also to Amazing Athletes for setting up a game and their mini-season class donation for the raffle. If you won this raffle donation, please contact them immediately to enroll in your mini season class. A HUGE thank you also to Carly Anderson and the treasury team for setting up concessions and providing a digital system for checking in and for paying for tickets, food items, and raffle tickets!

Falloween could not have been a successful fundraiser without YOU! Thank you parents and families for purchasing and/or donating tickets and items for Falloween, and for your continued support for the PS33 PTA Annual Fund in order to raise money to support the education of our children. Last but not least, thank you to the following organizations for their generosity.

Please feel free to share any pictures you may have from Falloween HERE. Thank you!

Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade had an awesome time walking around the schoolyard in their costumes on Halloween.

NYC Reads: Wit & Wisdom

Upcoming Information Workshops

NYC Reads in District 2!

As a part of our work to ensure our students have access to high quality, research-based literacy teaching and curricula, the District 2 Literacy Team and the Community Education Council 2's Wit & Wisdom Committee are hosting a series of virtual workshops for District 2 families. These sessions will focus on the Wit & Wisdom curriculum and literacy practice aligned to the science of reading. We invite you to share your questions and your children's learning experiences so far this year.

In order to best respond to your questions and interests, we are asking families to please fill out the questionnaire here: https://bit.ly/D2-WitWisdom. We will design workshops around topics that are of interest to our District 2 families. We plan to schedule our first workshop in early November.

Thank you in advance for your participation!
