THE IMPACT OF COACHING

Laura celebrates Progress in healing, business

Laura came to Community Progress Council with a dream: To help others through addiction and trauma with yoga. As she built her business and juggled multiple income streams to make it work, she sought support from her coach with employment, budgeting, and basic needs.

Together, Laura and her coach worked on resume development, career planning, and ongoing encouragement as she built her skills and confidence. In 2026, she completed her training to become a Reiki master, and opened her own Reiki studio in Hanover.

“I never saw myself as a businesswoman,” Laura says, but she credits coaching with helping her move forward, describing Community Progress Council as “my training wheels” and emphasizing the importance of tackling goals one step at a time.

In September, we recognized Laura as one of our "In Progress" honorees at our second annual Self-Sufficiency Celebration. Hear more from her in the video below, or catch a full event recap.

Working together for Back to School

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Hanover Hub for our Back to School Family Resource Fair in August.

With the support of volunteers, community partners, and service providers, we welcomed more than 100 attendees and served 30 families with school supplies, free haircuts, health screenings, snacks, raffle prizes, and other resources.

Events like this show what is possible when a community comes together to support local children and families — thank you to our partners at St. Matthew Lutheran Church and Three Retired Teachers Making a Difference, and to every organization, volunteer, and family who helped make the day a success.

We wish all students a happy, healthy, and successful school year — stay tuned for more opportunities to connect through our Community of Hope family resource center in our Hanover Hub.

Join CPC & the Hanover Area Chamber for a ribbon cutting ceremony

Community Progress Council has served the Hanover area for more than 60 years: You can find our Hanover Hub co-located with St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut Street, where families can connect with the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, early childhood education through three Head Start classrooms, and a Community of Hope family resource center, as well as Navigators and Coaches to listen to a family’s needs, provide referrals, and help them connect with supportive services and one-on-one coaching within Community Progress Council.

Join CPC and the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce on Friday, October 16, as we celebrate our services in this Hanover location with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony!

Chamber members, local leaders, community partners, and residents are invited to attend this special celebration and meet the Community Progress Council team.
