Volume 344

October 28, 2026

While in-clinic conversations prescribe personalized treatment plans that guide patients on enjoying precious sounds daily, how often is your voice heard between in-person contacts? Is it weeks, months, years, or…?

For advantageous reasons, Most Valuable Patients (MVPs) are those presently engaged. When their holistic care journey consistently delights, from initial fit to (especially) years of attuned aftercare, MVPs are more likely to:

  • Remain associated with your Practice.
  • Advocate for Friends & Family to benefit from your expertise.
  • Seek your trusted advice on future technology upgrades.

Way back when (320 weeks ago), Volume 24 nominated this winning idea:

“Especially with competitive landscapes, difficult economic conditions, and industry disruption, the ‘your most important customer is one you already have’ adage is so true. In a hearing-care sense, building relationships via your most valuable patients (MVPs) is the best proven way to grow your practice. As emphasized previously, approximately 75% of patient flow often relates to friends and family or medical referrals.”

Given the primary goal to Just Keep Nurturing, what is your Practice’s self-assessment?

advocacy scale

E-Newsletters are remarkably effective in scaling up informative interactions with your base. When initiating digital awareness campaigns, operational excellence delivers optimum results. To heighten turnout, make and plan on keeping these campaign promises.

#1. Establish Dynamic Duo target audience lists:

  • Patient database, ideally segmented by current, tested not helped, out of warranty, and 3-4+ prospective tech upgrades. This information will primarily derive from your OMS (more on that to follow).
  • Professional contact database, reflecting medical networking connections with current and prospective sources.

#2. Prioritize List Quality

Improving contact information accuracy directly increases deliverability rates. Just like physical mail sent via the USPS, we need the right address, not a mistaken guess. While it sounds mundane, your dedicated efforts to verify contact info particulars will not be in vain. These data fields are all that’s needed:

First Name ➡ Last Name ➡ Email address

  • When extracting necessary data from your OMS and formatting the baseline version, carefully review to identify typos, along with patients who have moved or passed away. Make these corrections pronto.
  • Share these updates with Team members involved in data collection to emphasize their frontline role in qualitative process improvement. Position these tasks as vital expectations, not “1 more thing.”
  • After sending the 1st E-Newsletter, analyze Bounce List of contacts that were not successfully delivered. Systematically update records by calling them to say a “friendly hello” and/or verify during their next visit.

#3. Expand List Quantity by purposely explaining to patients and listening companions why it is in their best interests to continually explore your Educate Well Monthly E-Newsletters’ informative content. From Did You Know? education to staying acquainted with your Team Members, Products & Services, community events and exclusive offers, there are valuable benefits.

Be prepared for those who say, “I already receive too many emails and don’t want to get anything $alesy.”

Let’s talk about 2 nifty tools which leading Practices utilize to set a positive tone:

  • A laminated copy of recent E-Newsletter so folks can see what they would actually receive. A typical response would be, “Oh, that looks educational, and I would like to keep learning about how hearing loss relates to my other medical conditions.”
  • A complete E-Newsletter binder including: Cover sheet, Table of Contents, Monthly tabs and laminated versions of all 12 monthly E-Newsletters.

#4. Response Data

When viewers engage with E-Newsletters, learning is a 2-way street. While they learn from informative content, we learn from who and how often they pay attention. This reminds us of sage advice:

We Can’t Manage What We Don’t Measure.

To serve you well, our monthly Open Reports deliver valuable response data. Driven by an Engagement Score algorithm, your contact list is presented in rank order. As the excerpt sample below shows, an intuitive follow-up structure is built in with:

  • ABC Priority Designation
  • Contact dates
  • Follow-up notes
