DAMASCUS SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION THROUGH ST. BRIGID OF KILDARE
Hi there, Parents of Middle + High Schoolers! (This email is sent out to all parents with kids that are entering 5th-12th grade this fall)
My name is Ellie Dills and I am St. Brigid's High School Youth Minister. I pray that you all are having a great summer!
It is hard to believe, but as this summer winds down, plans for next summer already begin!
If you may or may not have known, this past summer we had the opportunity as St. Brigid Parish to block 100 spots for our middle and high schoolers to attend Damascus Summer Camp. Our hope in doing this was to a) give our parishioners an opportunity for our kids to go to camp and encounter Jesus, b) to do it peacefully and not in the rush and chaos of thousands of others signing up, and c) to show our support for our youth and their faith journey.
The feedback that we received from this was astounding. Parishioners were so grateful that if they so wanted, that they could sign their child up with friends from the parish / school, to not rush with the chaos of everyone signing up for camp, and to build solid friendships on the way back to the parish after this amazing faith experience. It also gives us at the parish an opportunity to be able to go out to camp and be with your children. I, Fr. Black, and Deacon Paul all had the chance to go out for multiple days and to see the children out there, and we were so moved by seeing the children encountering Jesus!
Obviously, in a big parish like ours, it is hard to find a week that works best for everyone, but after taking a survey and working with Damascus, we are grateful to have Week 3 (June 20-June 25), with 35 middle school girl spots, 35 middle school boy spots, 30 high school girl spots, and 30 high school boy spots, for a total of 130 spots. Pre-Registration for these spots will open September 1. Again, these spots are first come, first serve amongst our parish, so please be sure to take advantage of this as soon as you can! If this week does not work for you, I would highly encourage you all to save the date for October 31st for main registration.
There will be more emails being sent out as reminders and also details for how to sign up in the next few weeks.
We can't wait for your child(ren) to attend camp and to encounter our Lord in a new way!
If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please reach out to me!
In Mary's Mantle,
Ellie Dills
