Travel the World with us

Dear Travelers,
As we conclude the Muslim celebration of Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, and enter a season of further observances with Passover and Easter, we at Spiekermann Travel extend our hopes for peace in the Middle East. The ongoing conflict continues to take a heavy toll—not only on those directly affected, but also on neighboring countries facing economic strain. Tourism, as always, is among the first industries to feel such impacts.
Because of the Middle East disruptions, we have been observing a notable shift rather than a decline in travel demand. Many travelers are redirecting their plans to other regions—particularly Africa – and we recommend North Africa as one possible alternative.
And now, on to our newsletter …

Springing Forward
Over Easter, I will be accompanying a group to Northern Morocco and the Spanish enclaves, joined by Dr. Mehreen Razvi. My few days escorting the group will be a special reunion with many returning travelers. Even for those who have visited Morocco before, this lesser-explored northern region offers fresh perspectives and fascinating contrasts.
Our same trip scheduled for April, 06 -16, 2027 is available and upon my return mid-April of next month, I can give you some first-hand insights into this program.

Rare Opportunity: Malawi & Zimbabwe
We’re excited to share that one room has just become available on our upcoming Malawi & Zimbabwe journey May 10-24, 2026 due to a last-minute cancellation. If you’ve been considering travel in May and haven’t yet made plans, this is a rare opportunity to join a truly spectacular and immersive experience.
This special tour explores the cultural and historical richness of Malawi and Zimbabwe, including a visit to the remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site of Great Zimbabwe. Often described as “one of the most dramatic architectural landscapes in sub-Saharan Africa,” it is the largest pre-modern stone complex in Africa outside of ancient Egypt. Built between the 11th and 15th centuries, it was once the thriving center of the Shona people civilization.
Our journey continues to the breathtaking Matobo Hills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for dramatic granite formations, ancient rock art, deep spiritual significance, and human history dating back to the Stone Age and continuing into today’s cultural traditions. The itinerary also explores Malawi, the “Warm Heart of Africa,” a diverse country in southeastern Africa home to Lake Malawi, one of Africa’s largest lakes, known for its clear waters, beaches, and island scenery. Its highland regions—Mulanje Massif, Nyika Plateau, and Zomba Plateau—offer striking landscapes ideal for photography, while Liwonde National Park and Majete Wildlife Reserve are known for conservation success and excellent safari experiences.
But also what really sets Malawi apart is its people—widely regarded as among the friendliest and most welcoming in Africa.

North Caucasus
May 30 - June 18, 2027
Looking ahead, our May departure to the North Caucasus offers a rare opportunity to explore one of the world’s most complex and culturally rich regions. This journey includes visits to several semi-autonomous republics, each with its own identity shaped by a layered history of conflict and resilience. Those rather obscure republics are a colorful tapestry of ethnic groups and tribes and cultural encounters. Such names like Chechnya, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Osseti and Kabardino - Balkaria sound and feel so alien but so intriguing at the same time.
Our 2026 departure is already fully booked, and interest is strong—early reservations are highly recommended.
