Portraits of Strength: Stories of Redemption

Signal Cleveland recently spoke with Lydia Bailey, Volunteer Coordinator at the Men's Shelter on Lakeside Ave. and creator of Portraits of Strength, to highlight the Portraits of Strength: Stories of Redemption gallery. Featuring the stories of LMM staff members who have overcome extreme challenges in their lives and are now using their experiences to help others, the Portraits gallery is a testimony to the advantages of Fair Chance Hiring.

“All these people profiled, without saying a word, speak hope. They speak hope simply in who they are. That they were in a situation and now look at them. Now who they are is so beyond they’ve transcended where they came from.” - Lydia Bailey

Celebrating Second Chance Month

Happy Second Chance Month! This observance throughout the month of April recognizes the importance of supporting the millions of individuals returning from incarceration each year across the United States. Second Chance Month aims to raise awareness around the opportunities for government, service providers, businesses and more to contribute to meaningful second chances for returning citizens.

Introduced by Ohio Senator Rob Portman (R) in April of 2017, with the support of national prison ministry network Prison Fellowship, the resolution to declare April as Second Chance Month was unanimously passed by the U.S. Senate.

Metro45 team at the 2024 Total Eclipse Fest

The Metro45 Cafe & Catering team joined the Great Lakes Science Center for its Total Eclipse Fest earlier this week, serving meals out of the Metro45 Food Truck during the three-day festival in Downtown Cleveland. Thank you to all of those who enjoyed meals from the food truck, as all proceeds support LMM's Workforce Development program.

In addition, LMM's leadership team was able to provide Men's Shelter staff and residents with eclipse glasses, allowing the shelter to safely host a viewing of this once-in-a-lifetime event!
