City Lights Church Planting Meetings

City Lights Church Planting Network is a gospel-centered movement that aims to reach the Chinese community in North America through church planting. City Lights is a network of pastors from different churches who share a common burden and passion to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Chinese immigrants. Their vision is to establish healthy, gospel-centered, and multiplying churches in major cities and college towns. Join us as we welcome this church planting group to our campus on Friday, February 14. Many will join us on Sunday, February 16 for worship. We hope you will spend time greeting them, welcoming them, and praying for them!

You're Invited to Attend an Interview with John Piper

Saturday, February 15

Join us on Saturday morning, February 15, at 10:30 am ,in the sanctuary, for a live recording of Pastor Kevin’s podcast, "Life and Books and Everything," as he interviews Pastor John Piper. Let Janet Morgan know if you have any questions at janet@clearlyreformed.org. We hope to see you there!

John Piper Preaching at Christ Covenant

Sunday, February 16

All are invited to join us for morning worship on Sunday, February 16, at 10:45 am, to welcome and to hear from our special guest, Pastor John Piper.

John Piper serves as founder and lead teacher at Desiring God and is chancellor of Bethlehem College & Seminary. For 33 years, Piper served as pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He has authored more than 50 books, and more than 30 years of his preaching and writing are available free of charge at desiringGod.org. Piper resides in the Minneapolis area with his wife of 51 years and has five children and 14 grandchildren.

Parking and Seating for

Next Sunday, February 16

As we prepare to welcome guests, friends, and neighbors for our morning worship service with John Piper, we are asking for your help with parking and seating. We encourage all families to travel to church in one car, if possible to help with parking. Also, if you are able and willing to park at Covenant Day Middle School, the Youth House/White House parking lot, or along Pleasant Hill Drive, which are all across Covenant Lane, we encourage you to do that so that parking spaces will be available to accommodate more guests. We have plenty of seats available and want to remind you that the wings next to the stage are available for seating. You can access these areas from the balcony level. If you notice someone looking for a seat, please look around for space available around you and see if you can move to the middle of your pew to create additional space. We are so glad you are here for worship, and we are looking forward to worshipping with Pastor John Piper next Sunday.

HisAbilities Pot-Luck Lunch

Sunday, February 16

Our HisAbilities ministry is hosting a pot-luck style chili lunch for those in our church body impacted by disabilities and special needs. We love getting together for some food and fellowship and building community among those sharing this particular journey. If you would be blessed by sharing in this fellowship and building greater connections among this special community, please make plans to join us on Sunday, February 16, immediately following the morning worship service in Community Life Center rooms 3&4 (CLC). To RSVP and receive the pot-luck sign up please contact Amy Van Dusen.

Supported Worker Spotlight

Sunday Evening, February 16

All are welcome to join us on Sunday, February 16, immediately following the evening service in the Community Life Center rooms 1&2 (CLC), to hear from one of our supported workers, Peter Eck. Peter is planting New City Fellowship of Atlantic City in Atlantic City, NJ. Atlantic City is plagued by poverty, greed, corruption, and false religions. New City Fellowship is striving to be a light in this dark city through continued evangelism and outreach opportunities within the community. Come and enjoy light refreshments as we learn more about what the Lord is doing in Atlantic City!

Communion During Evening Worship

February 23

We have an opportunity to observe communion together during evening worship on Sunday, February 23. We know that not everyone is able to attend morning worship for a wide variety of reasons. Therefore, we want to provide an opportunity to participate in the Lord’s Supper during evening worship. We will begin offering this quarterly throughout the year. We hope you will be able to join us.

Missions Conference

"Taking the Word to the World"

March 1-2

We are looking forward to our upcoming Missions Conference on March 1-2, 2025. Our theme this year is “Taking the Word to the World.” We are going to learn about how the Bible is translated into different languages to make the Word of God accessible to the nations! Our special guest is Dr. Peter Williams, Principal and CEO of Tyndale House, Cambridge. Dr. Williams is our speaker for both morning and evening worship on Sunday, March 2. Below are additional special events for our Missions Conference.

Coffee and Conversations | Saturday, March 1, 9:00 am - 10:45 am

All are invited to Coffee and Conversations with supported workers on Saturday, March 1, from 9:00 am - 10:45 am, in the Community Life Center. Join us for breakfast snacks, fellowship, and to hear from some of our supported workers. Don’t miss this special opportunity to engage in what the Lord is doing in the part of the world where they serve. We will also learn about the challenges they face and how we can pray for them.

We are also offering children’s programs during Coffee and Conversations for children ages infant through 5th grade. The event will begin with some light refreshments at 9:00 am, so feel free to feed your child when you arrive prior to taking them to the childcare area during the dismissal at 9:30 am. Elementary-age children will have an opportunity to hear about missions from some of our supported workers and local ministries! To reserve a space for your child, please click here. Please contact Erin McFaddin if you have any questions.

Combined Sunday School | Sunday, March 2, 9:00 am

This combined Sunday School is for all adults. Middle and high school students will meet in the Youth Center, the lower Community Life Center, where they will hear from a supported worker. We will have the opportunity to hear from our supported workers serving in various parts of the world.

Q&A with Dr. Peter Williams, Dr. Will Ross, and Dr. Kevin DeYoung

Sunday, March 2, After Evening Worship

We are excited to invite you to a special time of Q&A with Dr. Peter Williams, Dr. Will Ross, and our Senior Pastor, Dr. Kevin DeYoung, immediately after evening worship, on Sunday, March 2, in the sanctuary.

Join us for this fun Q&A as we learn more about how Dr. Williams and Dr. Ross seek to combine making new technical discoveries about the Bible with growing a culture of researchers who are devoted to Christ.

Faith Promise

Faith Promise is the primary means by which Christ Covenant financially supports international and domestic supported workers and church planters. Through Faith Promise, we support 90 supported workers/agencies in 26 countries around the globe! Would you begin praying now about how you and your family can participate in Faith Promise giving in 2025? You can pick up a Faith Promise commitment card to take home with you today. These can be found at the tables going into the sanctuary.

On Sunday, March 2, we will have a special time during our morning worship to offer our Faith Promise commitment cards with our pledges and pray that God will provide for the ministry partners we are supporting in 2025. What might God supply through you to help empower our supported workers and church planters across the globe this year as they share Christ across the world?

Trail Life BBQ

Order Now Through March 14

Christ Covenant family, it’s that time of year again for the best BBQ in Matthews! Our Trail Life ministry will be firing up the smokers again and filling the air with a heavenly aroma the week of March 23, 2025. We are taking orders now through March 14. To order bbq and sides, click here. Get you order in now so you don’t miss out! Have questions, contact either Jerry Shanko or Wes Smith.

Serve in Worship

Serving through music or technology is a great way to bless our congregation and our Lord. Also, you may join for a particular season to ‘get your feet wet.’ Now is a good time to jump in as we begin preparing for Maundy Thursday, Easter and Ascension. There are opportunities for adult and youth choirs, orchestra, and contemporary instruments. In addition, helping in the ‘tech booth’ with sound, video, and more is a great way to serve. Please reach out to Liz McNulty for more information.

HisAbilities Respite Night

Volunteers and Participants Needed

Christ Covenant’s HisAbilities ministry is excited about our upcoming Spring Respite Night, March 29, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. This event is a wonderful opportunity for our church to come alongside Christ Covenant families impacted by disability by providing a few hours of respite for parents while their children (younger or older) are cared for and engaged by a loving team of volunteers! It’s also a great time to make encouraging connections with this special part of our church body!

We need volunteers! No experience with disabilities is necessary, but you must be a member of Christ Covenant to serve. To learn more or register to volunteer please contact Amy Van Dusen at avandusen@christcovenant.org by March 7.

If you are a Christ Covenant family (members or regularly attending) impacted by disability or special needs who would benefit by taking advantage of Respite Night please contact Amy Van Dusen by March 14.

Children's Sunday School Spotlight

During Sunday School this morning, all our children from two years-old to fifth grade are learning about Jeremiah and the bad news from The Biggest Story Bible Storybook curriculum, from the lesson “Jeremiah Against Everyone” in Jeremiah 1. If you sit near a family with young children, please take a moment to ask the children to share what they learned in Sunday School with you!

Christ Covenant and Kevin DeYoung Podcasts

Christ Covenant and our Senior Pastor Kevin DeYoung have several podcast that you can tune into throughout the week, including our Sunday School classes! Here's a list of our podcasts and links to find them.
