Mondays with the Mayor:

Moving Through the Summer

In this edition of Mondays with the Mayor, Peachtree City Mayor Kim Learnard reflects on another successful Fourth of July parade and congratulates this year’s winners. The livestream was a success and fireworks dazzled residents throughout the city.

Mayor Learnard shares the exciting news of city council meetings officially adding new times. Every first meeting of the month will take place at 6:30 PM in the Francis Meader Council Chambers, while the second meeting of the month will take place at 9:30 AM for the months of August, September, October, and November.

And finally, Mayor Learnard discusses the public preparations underway for the city’s FY25 budget. The City Manager presented the proposed budget of $56 million at the July 11th council meeting, which includes a millage rate reduction of .06 mills. Ribbon Cutting at Healing Bridge Clinic

On Thursday, the Healing Bridge Clinic held a ribbon cutting featuring dignitaries from both the Fayette and Coweta Chambers of Commerce.

The Clinic has reached 65% of their fundraising goal for a building project. If you would like to help support the future care of the uninsured and underserved in our area, please click here.

This clinic was founded in 2009 by the unwavering dedication and compassion of retired nurse Ruth McCommon; inspired by her experiences as a missionary nurse and recognizing a gap in healthcare access, Mrs. McCommon envisioned a place where no one would be turned away due to a lack of insurance.

Making Magical Memories at the Library

On Friday, the Peachtree City Library welcomed magic into the Floy Farr room with Ken Scott's Carnival of Adventure! This magic show featured loads of laughs, storytelling, and presentations. Ken was even joined by his friend Croco, the puppet with crazy antics.

We love our library and the Fantastic Friday series they brought to our community this summer!

Get Involved with the FY-2025 Budget

Now Hiring: Stormwater Manager

Enhancing Water Quality

Stormwater runoff containing excessive amounts of pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers is a significant threat to water quality. There are several things one can do to protect the water quality in our lakes and streams:

  • Limit the use of pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers.
  • Do not apply pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers if heavy rain is predicted.
  • Rather than broadcasting herbicides, spot-treat only those areas that contain weeds.
  • Maintain a small lawn and keep the rest of your property or yard in a natural state with trees and other native vegetation that require little or no fertilizer.
  • Make sure to properly dispose of any unused portions. Do not dump pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers down a storm drain.
