Greetings!
Our church has so much for which to be thankful:
- a beautiful space which inspires our worship lives
- dedicated and inspired pastors and staff
- time together for fellowship and making deep connections, welcoming all
- classes, discussions and retreats to explore and deepen our faith
- opportunities to make a meaningful difference to many with needs, through our gifts and service
- a large group of volunteers who teach, serve in worship, visit other members, plan events, meetings, and retreats, and plan and participate in service projects
- Above all, we have the knowledge of God’s love for us and Jesus’s teachings about what is truly important.
Forty-one years ago, a dedicated group of Christians chose to become the founding members of our congregation. They gave their time, their talents, and their treasures. From our church’s faithful beginning, we have grown in faith and service, in learning and teaching, and in showing God’s love to a hurting world.
The theme of this year’s stewardship campaign is “A Future with Hope.” We know that our founders had great hope for what this church could become. Through the years, faithful people have continued the work and support. I hope you find joy, encouragement, inspiration, and purpose as a member of this church body.
It is now our turn to look to the future with hope, and to renew our commitment by generously giving our time, talent, and treasures.
I am writing to encourage you to join me in providing vital financial support to keep our ministries strong. You can use this link to make a pledge which will help us plan our budget, fulfill our important goals, and ensure that we can continue to look to the future with hope.
Grace and peace,
Beth Gettys Sturkey
President
The Congregation at Duke University Chapel

JOIN US FOR OUR FALL SNACK-LUCK NEXT SUNDAY!
It’s fall and time to bring out your pumpkin and apple recipes! The Fellowship Committee would like you to join them for a post-worship "Snack-Luck" on Sunday, November 8, 2026 in the Chapel basement. In case you are not aware, a Snack-Luck is a simplified version of a potluck. All are invited to bring a pumpkin or apple dish or snack to share (but please attend regardless of whether you can contribute or not). Drop off your items in the Chapel kitchen prior to worship. Remember to pick up your dish at the end of the event. If you don’t know your way to the Chapel basement, ask a blue-robed usher, and they can direct you. We are looking forward to breaking bread and spending time together in gratitude with you.

STILL ROOM TO SIGN UP FOR THE RACIAL EQUITY LUNCH & LEARN
The Racial Equity Group is hosting a "Lunch and Learn" at the Nasher next Sunday, November 8 from 1-3PM. Their current exhibit "Turn the Volume Up" examines how artists, activists, and everyday people have used their voices to challenge injustice. We will meet near the front desk at 1:00 to get oriented to the exhibit and gather again in the Cafe area after experiencing it to discuss what we have to learn from the artists and activists highlighted. We will not be covering the cost of lunch but reach out if that would be a barrier to your being able to participate. There is still space available for this event so use this link to sign up soon and reserve your spot!
