Community Listening Sessions

Thank you to everyone who came to our first two community listening sessions, discussing Land and Water topic areas, for our islandwide Climate Resilience Plan! We received lots of thoughtful insight, and we look forward to incorporating this feedback into the plan. There are two more upcoming opportunities to share your input—the People Listening Session and Spanish Listening Session with a Community Meal. Registration on Eventbrite is encouraged, but not required.

Join us this Thursday, from 5:30 - 7:00 pm at Norman Bird Sanctuary for our People Listening Session, where we will cover the topics of circular economy, emergency preparedness, and community engagement!

The sanctuary is opening its trails free beforehand, so come early! Attendees can also join the What Does a Wildlife Biologist Do? program for free.

Water We Up to?!

Prudence Island Visit

Our team took a trip out to Prudence Island to tour the ongoing resilience projects at Mill Creek and Neck Farm Road! After, we joined our friends at the Narragansett Bay Research Reserve for lunch and to chat about future opportunities for collaboration.

Flooding to Flowers: Rain Garden Series has begun!

The pilot program starts this week in the Almy Pond neighborhood! Our rain garden design team—Aquidneck Resilience staff, Wild & Scenic Landscaping, and O’Connor Design Build—will be conducting site visits all month assessing potential rain garden options at homes in the watershed. The goal of this program is to empower residents to make positive changes for their local watershed in their own backyards (literally!). Stay tuned for updates on this series, and potential expansion into other neighborhoods across the island.

In the meantime, you can checkout our rain garden design resources page!
