AN UPDATE FROM AV CAMP

ANOTHER AMAZING SUMMER IN THE BOOKS!

After 8 weeks, the service of 83 staff members, the blessing of over 1,200 campers, and many beautiful Church services, our summer camping season has come to a close! We miss you all already!

Our campers learned about the Book of Romans during Morning Program, learned how to be Christ-like in everyday sports and activities during Afternoon Program, and enjoyed fellowship as a family during Evening Program.

Our campers also went out of their comfort zones on the Challenge Course and experienced the beauty of nature and God's creation during the Overnight

Most importantly, we spent every day in prayer and chanting together in Church while growing closer to God.

On July 18th, during Session 3, we were blessed to be joined by His Eminence Metropolitan SABA as well as many clergy from the Archdiocese to witness the very special Translation of the Relics of Saint Raphael of Brooklyn, one of the Village's beloved Patron Saints who has been buried on our property since 1988.

Relive that special day and participate in history through this new video produced by our very own Director of Communications, Constantine Kallaur. May St. Raphael intercede to God for us!

Our Camp Photographer, Alexander Moujaes, also took photos of this new Feast Day. Feel free to view them at the following link!

A Special Visit from the Clergy Symposium

About 200 priests and clergy from across the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America gathered from July 22nd to the 24th at the Conference Center for the Biennial Clergy Symposium

On Tuesday night, the clergy joined our campers for Vespers in the outdoor pavilion. The campers then treated them to an energetic talent show.

Village Updates

Ongoing Projects

Better Communication Around Camp with a new PA system!

In order to better facilitate communication throughout our camp property to our AV family, we have installed a new PA system. With its wide range and clarity, our PA system will certainly be a great new asset!

New Trees to Flourish Around Camp

Our landscaping interns, Sean Houssan and William Maghes, have been working hard planting trees around Naime Hall and the Outdoor Chapel.

Our St. Thekla shrine is now dedicated to the memory of Dr. Lara Gashash, one of our beloved Village Alum.

We have added a plaque in her name at the bottom of the shrine in her memory.

Directional Signage is now Complete!

We have finished installing new directional signage across our camp property! We want to ensure that guests and alumni alike can more easily traverse and be guided around camp and our facilities.

Kitchen Manager Needed!

Kitchen Manager - With so many programs and guest groups throughout the year, we are in need of someone to join our year-round team and run the AV Camp kitchen.

If you or someone you know are interested in either position please email frchris@avcamp.org.

RELIVE AV MEMORIES!

Hey AV Alumni! Do you love flipping through our photo albums when you come to visit? Well our Director of Communications Constantine Kallaur has spent the last year scanning all of our photos from our photo collection going all the way back to 1981! In an effort to preserve the history of The Antiochian Village, we are in the process of digitizing as much content as we have. God willing, we'll have every session video going back to the 1990's online in the near future as well.
