Being a military spouse means keeping home HOME while being left behind for extended time. It comes with lack of choice in where you live, adjusting your personal goals to fit the circumstances, creating quick friendships before your transfer and knowing your place in the pecking order.
It also means exploring the world with the honor of representing America and getting to know different cultures in country and overseas. Knowing that the friendships you create are for life.
It means proudly standing beside your person in uniform as they fulfill their oath to country, while keeping home and family strong, healthy and running smoothly. Doing this quietly and in the background so they have more strength and focus to protect and defend.
The military spouse role is an honor that I was privileged to live for the first 14 years of our marriage before Lee retired from the US Air Force. Today I celebrate all my sisters and brothers who serve(d) our country by standing beside and behind our spouses as they serve our country in uniform.
