Record turnout at Tomato Festival

Take in the sights from the biggest Hanover Tomato Festival yet!

Over 13,000 people explored the sounds of live music, the sights of talented craft vendors and the smell of delicious tomato dishes. Over 1,100 tasting plates and more than 10,000 pounds of Hanover Tomatoes were sold.

It wouldn't be possible without the 150 staff and volunteers on hand each day and we can't wait for you to help us break these numbers next year!

Richmond Region Tourism has partnered with Longwoods International to conduct a Resident Sentiment Survey to better understand residents' perspectives on tourism, quality of life, community pride and future priorities.

Your feedback will help inform decisions that support our neighborhoods, local businesses and the visitor experiences that strengthen our local economy.

The story behind Lickinghole Creamery

July is National Ice Cream Month, Stacy Whipple reflects on her experience owning and growing Lickinghole Creamery to the fan favorite it is today.

Stacy explained that Lickinghole proudly sources their ice cream locally, specifically from Richlands Creamery and Dairy Farm. To Stacy, ice cream represents more than just a dessert.

“I think it represents spring, summer, family, fun – it's a great little treat, an inexpensive treat, especially after a pool day or if you’re just traveling through.”

The shop houses a nostalgic, friendly atmosphere for kids and adults alike to enjoy. With old-school games scattered around the shop – from train whistles to silly putty to jacks – Stacy said she hopes adults can tap into their childhood selves while inside.
