This Week in TUSD: BHS, Arroyo and SMA

This Week in Tustin Unified

This week, Beckman's Medical Certificate Program welcomes BHS and THS students to its annual Medical Skills Day, a morning highlighting the many aspects of the medical field while offering students a unique opportunity to interact with health professionals. And at Arroyo, through the work of Thinking Classrooms, students in Ms. Johnston's class are developing student-owned, deep mathematical thinking through a learner-centered approach. In addition, at Sycamore Magnet Academy, Profesora Cazares' students are examining the many cultures of Spanish-speaking countries as they study the Spanish language. Enjoy highlights from another great week in Tustin Unified!

Hewes Woodshop Guest Speaker Images

Hewes Woodshop Welcomes Professional Furniture Maker and Carpenter James Snow

Hewes welcomed James Snow, of Snow Woodworks to Mr. Jennings' woodshop classes, sharing his insights from a career as a professional woodworker. Mr. Snow brought in samples and shared words of encouragement on the joys of working in this field. He has been featured on the DIY Channel as a master carpenter on the TV series, Restored with Brett Waterman. Currently, Mr. Snow is finishing a production run of arts-and-crafts-style lanterns for the Grand Californian in the Disneyland Resort. Students not only had the chance to hear from Mr. Snow, but he also took the time to provide feedback on their current projects. It was an awesome experience for our Highlanders.
