Team Ryan fed 70 of our neighbors pulled pork sandwiches, chips, slaw, and baked beans. They had several different kinds of desserts. Thank you to all of our volunteers.

Sue's Table Calendar for 2026 revised 5/26/2026

This year, we are excited to host our First Annual Littlest Thanksgiving Parade, and we’d love YOUR help making it extra special!

Think of a traditional Thanksgiving Day parade, just on a much smaller scale! Our preschoolers will be marching with their favorite mylar character balloons, and we’re inviting our community to join in the fun.

We are looking for local businesses, schools, organizations, clubs, and community members who would be willing to participate!

What does participation look like? We’d love to have:

* Marching bands and musicians

* Cheerleaders and dance teams

* Athletes and sports teams

* School clubs and student organizations

* Police officers, firefighters, and first responders

* Department vehicles and company trucks

* Local business representatives

* Mascots, costumed characters, and anyone with hometown spirit!

You don’t have to have a big group or elaborate setup. Whether you walk in the parade, bring a vehicle, represent your organization, play some music, or simply come out to wave and cheer, we’d love to have you!

First United Methodist Church

Camden, Arkansas

We are happy to provide community service hour documentation for participating students who need it.

Our preschoolers look up to the older kids and the wonderful people in our community. We think there’s something really special about bringing everyone together to make a little magic for our littlest residents!

If you or your organization would like to participate, please contact Kyla Pace (870) 818-9113.

We would be incredibly grateful for your support and hope you’ll join us in making this a fun new Thanksgiving tradition for Camden!

Let’s make this little parade a BIG deal!

Pastor Ryan’s Jumbled Thoughts 11/4/26

We are entering the month when thankfulness becomes a big part of what we think about. But life doesn't always make it easy to feel thankful. Grief, financial worries, uncertainty, and the struggles of everyday life can sometimes make hope hard to find. In 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18, Paul reminds us that what we see and experience today is not the end of our story. God's generosity isn't simply about the things we have; it's also about the hope He gives us. Through Jesus, we are promised that death does not have the final word, suffering will not last forever, and we are never abandoned. What a beautiful promise to hold on to! Paul also encourages us to "encourage one another with these words." God has generously given us the gift of community. Sometimes that generosity looks like a phone call, a prayer, a helping hand, or even a casserole at just the right time! We may not be able to fix every problem, but we can remind one another that no one has to face life's challenges alone. As Thanksgiving approaches, perhaps we can look beyond the usual question of what we are thankful for and ask ourselves who God has placed in our lives to encourage and love. And just as importantly, who might need that encouragement from us? Life won't always be easy, but God is with us, and He has given us one another. So let's be generous with our love, our time, our forgiveness, and our hope. God is generous, and together, we will be okay!

  If you have been by the church during the week over the last several weeks, you have probably noticed quite an abundance of cars in nearly every parking spot. Our community came out in huge numbers this year to exercise their civic duty and right to vote. While it got a bit frustrating at times to have to walk from the pantry to the office, I am thankful that we have a space that allows us to be such an active part of our community. It is a blessing to see our church serve as a gathering place for the community. As Thanksgiving and Advent approach, there are many exciting things happening around our church, and I hope you will make plans to join us! Our Thanksgiving meal will be served on Thanksgiving Day, November 26. We will be looking for volunteers to help prepare the meal that week, so please let us know if you are able to lend a hand. As I announced during worship on Sunday, we will also need some helping hands to put up the Christmas tree and begin decorating on Sunday, November 22, immediately following worship. We will provide a pizza lunch for everyone who is able to stay and help. It is always a joy to work together and get our church ready for the Christmas season! Advent begins on November 29 with our Service of the Chrismons. We began this tradition last year, and it received such wonderful feedback that I am excited to continue it this year. As we move through the Advent season, mark your calendars for these other special celebrations:

  • December 6: Church wide Christmas Potluck. The church will provide the meats, and everyone is invited to bring a side dish or dessert.
  • December 13 at 5:00 p.m.: Our youth Christmas party here at the church.
  • December 20: Christmas Cantata during worship.

I hope you will mark your calendars and make plans to join us as we celebrate this wonderful time of the year together. Have a blessed week, and remember: God is generous, He is with us, and we are going to be okay!  Ryan
