to apply as well.

Our vendors make a valuable contribution to the health, safety and welfare of the community we serve.

Port of Long Beach New Contracting Opportunity:

The Port of Long Beach recently advertised an RFP for Custodial Support Services. Attached is a copy of the Notice of RFP, with information on the scope of services, schedule and a link to access the RFP and related documents.

A few helpful reminders:

  1. Vendor Registration - all vendors must be registered on PlanetBids to submit an RFP. A short video is available with step-by-step instructions to register here: PlanetBids vendor registration video - Planet Bids Registration and Video
  2. SBE Certification - The Port accepts the State of California Department of General Services SBE Certification. When a vendor submits their RFP, the Port’s SBE team will check that their certification is active on the CA DGS website. If they do not have a SBE certification yet, they can apply for one directly with the Port.

Metro is launching a Community Working Group (CWG) to guide the implementation of the Long Beach–East Los Angeles Corridor Mobility Investment Plan (LB–ELA CMIP)—a transformative effort to improve air quality, expand mobility options, and support healthier communities across the corridor.

We’re looking for residents across the LB-ELA Corridor who can serve as CWG members to guide project implementation, ensuring community priorities like equity, health, mobility, and opportunity remain central. Applicants with strong community ties—such as residents, young people, seniors, those living near 710 Freeway or ports—are especially encouraged to apply.

The CWG will:

  • Provide feedback and guidance on prioritizing Community Programs and defining their impacts and benefits.
  • Serve as a bridge between Metro and local communities by sharing updates and bringing input back to the Metro team.
  • Meet regularly through a two-year commitment with compensation for participation.
  • Collaborate with Technical Working Groups (TWGs) to align technical decisions with community perspectives.

The Application is open Monday, October 6 through Friday, November 14, 2025, and is available in English or Spanish.

  • Selected members will be notified in December 2025.
  • CWG Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are also available in English and Spanish to help answer questions about the process.

Please feel free to reach out to me or email the project at 710corridor@metro.net if you have any questions.

Thank you for your leadership and for working with Metro to build a cleaner, healthier, and more connected future for the LB–ELA Corridor.

With sincere gratitude
