David Lang's poor hymnal

Our 11th Grammy Nomination

in 10 consecutive years

poor hymnal

from the composer and friend of our most numerous collaborations

our labor of love

our most-toured work

our future staged choral theatre piece

you saw me

and you loved me

as you love yourself

the least of us, the least of us

who we are to the least of us

is who we are

The poor hymnal team!

We really are not in it for accolades, but as long as we're celebrating, the first names to be spoken are our singers, staff, board, and listeners; we thank our community.

Thanks to Carol Westfall, who ensures our records get made.

Thanks to our producers: Paul, Kevin, Donald.

Thanks to Jim Cotter at Articulate Studios.

Thanks to the Team at Cantaloupe Records.

Thanks to David.

When we sing his music we enact our values.

Music that pursues truth and transparency.

Music that resonates with our community of listeners.

We are in such good company and among friends in our "Best Choral Performance" category: LA Master Chorale (twice!), Conspirare, and The Clarion Choir. The same is true beyond out category: Tania León, Jake Heggie, Alan Pierson, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Gabriela Ortiz, Sandbox Percussion (whom we join for a trip to Stanford together in March!), and Christopher Cerrone (x3 – you have to come hear his new piece November 21 and 23!).

What a time to be a musician!
