GENNY'S GIMMES

Hello Membership and welcome to “GENNY'S GIMMES!

Right out of the gate, THANK YOU to Lissa Smith for doing an amazing job as President over the past 2 years! Lissa is a hard act to follow but the show must go on!

Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself.

I dabbled in golf for about 20 years until I retired in 2018. That's when I joined the LPGA Amateurs. I was so happy to find an organization that would take me as a member given my lack of skill and experience. I was not good! I felt I had no business being on a golf course with a golf group. I had a high handicap but took advantage of the skills classes offered by our chapter. I also took private lessons and have become a bogey golfer! (Since it’s golf, though, I never know which golfer will appear! Some days I can turn up pretty stinky!)

And I still want to get better. It's an addictive sport!

We have a strong chapter with a wide range of handicaps, and we welcome all skill levels! You can enjoy your new and old friends, lust after the BEST golf courses and, at the same time, improve your skills with a wonderful group.

On that note, I’m granting some GIMMES:

"That's Good!"

I am so pleased Jennifer Hermanson will assume my past duties as Events Director. I can’t imagine how good the 2025 golf events schedule will be!

"That's Good Too!"

Who better than the philanthropic powerhouse, Mary Allen Waller, to help us keep our coffers fat instead of us!

“Dancin’ Donna Coffey, our new communications director, knows first-hand that good communication leads to a strong community!

Linda Tissiere, who won the “Ear to the Ground” award scouting for new members, continues as membership director for 1 more year.

"Pick It Up!"

Many thanks to Georgia Wiley, our outgoing finance director. She juggled a demanding preschool business while trying to build a house in Florida AND keep up with our chapter's demands. I know you join me in wishing our best to her on future life journeys.

Those are my GIMMES for today!

We welcome all to participate...no matter what your handicap is. Come out and have fun. There is nothing like being outside, enjoying the beauty of a golf course and getting to know some awesome women!

Although our season is winding down, there are still some events you can't miss. See you on the course!

If there are extenuating circumstances for a late cancellation, please contact the Chapter Events Director at events@lpgaamateursrichmond.com to see if reimbursement can be issued.

Please understand golf courses require a final headcount submitted several days/weeks prior to the event as a "lock-in" number for invoicing our organization.

•   Keep Your Handicap Current

All members who have or are establishing a handicap index, be sure you post scores for all rounds - regardless of whether the scores are associated with a Chapter event - to keep handicaps current.

REC competitors are required to post scores associated with every REC round.

Up-to-date handicaps helps us with pairings and ensures fairness across competitions.
