How to Hatch: a Gosling's Guide to Breaking Free by Sara Holly Ackerman
Recommended by Miss Katherine, for ages 3+
Ever wonder what it looks like inside an egg? Get ready to join a gosling on their step-by-step hatching journey in this fact filled book to see what happens inside an egg before, during, and after hatching! What makes this book a hit is that it is written in the form of an instructional guide, meaning kids will hear what they need to do to make their way out of the egg (get your egg tooth ready!). I personally also like that the book is written in a way that blends informational text (and some fun new vocab words!) with colorful images to keep kids of many ages intrigued. Each page also includes more details off to the side in case you want to dig into that specific hatching step further. This book has been a frequent request for a bedtime book in my house!
Take Off Your Brave: The World Through the Eyes of a Preschool Poet by Nadim
Recommended by Kelly, best for ages 3+
Can you imagine a world where Wednesdays are rainbow-colored? A school where all the kids are kittens and the teachers are dinosaurs? A beetle named Billy who dreams of turning the whole world to stone? Four-year-old poet Nadim can! This adorable and imaginative collection of poems shows how a young child sees the world in his own words. Both a great read and a reminder that we’re never too young to experience the joy of poetry.
Don't Eat the Cleaners! Tiny Fish with a Big Job! by Susan Stockdale
Recommended by Mrs. Murphy, best for ages 4-8
This is a fun choice for fans of our fish tank. Even though they live in the water, fish do get dirty. Bright digital illustrations show how they get washed up by small fish and shrimp called cleaners. The most surprising page shows cleaner shrimp nibbling in a scuba diver’s mouth! A great introduction to symbiosis.
Even though Raven Gallows lives in her family's funeral home, she wasn't prepared when a visit to her town's famous Moonrise Manor ends with her coming face to face with a mummified body. Naturally, she is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery. But what makes this book so great is that in order to figure out who mummy is (was?) and what he has to do with her family, Raven learns she needs to trust other people and to look past the first impressions she forms. There are lots of unanswered questions at the end of the story but not to worry – the sequel is already out!
The Many Mysteries of the Finkel Family by Sarah Kapit
Recommended by Lynne, best for ages 8-12
12-year-old Lara Finkel's favorite thing in the world is reading a mystery series about her favorite detective - who happens to be a girl her age. Lara is trying to stand out in her crowded family, so she decides to start her own detective agency. Her Seattle neighborhood doesn't seem to offer much in the way of cases to solve. But it turns out that the mysteries Lara needs to solve involve figuring out why the people she loves are acting differently all of sudden. All the tension comes to head as they gather to celebrate the Jewish New Year and Lara needs to make some serious resolutions to help her family. Sometimes the fact that she and two of her siblings are autistic and their father has ADHD seems to make things harder. Reading this book is a great way to learn about cultures, customs, and challenges that might be different from the ones in your family. But I think the best thing about this book is that it shows how similar we all are – we all get scared and we all get anxious and we all need to know we matter!
Whoever heard of a little goat being the GOAT?! This movie is about a young goat named Will who dreams of being a top-notch roarball player, aka a high-intensity, full contact version of basketball. Will gets a once-in-a-lifetime chance to play on the same team as his idol, Jett Filmore, a team that's lost its' luster and needs a change to finally win a championship. The team feels embarrassed to have a goat on their roster, but Will is determined to prove that "smalls can ball."
Some things I loved about this movie were the break in tradition and variety of characters. Unlike real basketball teams, this is a CO-ED team. JETT FILMORE is a FEMALE black panther, a superstar on the court, and inspires girl and boy players alike. I LOVE THAT SO MUCH! She's held to the same standard as MVP male players today. Furthermore, besides Jett, Will's team is made up of a mix of other animals, a single dad rhino with twin terrors, a musically talented but lazy giraffe, an ostrich obsessed with social media, and a weird eccentric komodo dragon. Together, they start off as "losers" and with each other's support and encouragement, become "winners."
A board game that can be played solo or with the whole family, Hop, Waddle, STOMP brings practicing motor skills, color matching, following directions, and taking turns with others into the fun experience of play. If your toddler loves animals, this game will delight them with its easy play concept and adorable picture puzzles, and you’ll enjoy how simple it is to set up, explain, and start playing!

This is a fun, entertaining book to read. Greg's parents forgot his birthday, they made a do over for his party, but many disasters happened. At the end, he got what he wanted for his birthday. The story kept me engaged the entire time. I really recommend this book to people who love reading comics.
