Speaker Pelosi’s spending bill was focused more on partisan priorities than our Nation’s COVID recovery. Read about why I voted "No."

The unprecedented COVID-19 crisis demands a robust, targeted response from the federal government. But only 9% of the funding in Speaker Pelosi's proposed $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill was actually for COVID relief. The rest was a grab bag of nearly $1 trillion in pork and other provisions that were totally unrelated to COVID - things like $100 million for a train project in Silicon Valley. Nancy Pelosi used this bill as cover to push a partisan agenda rather than build on areas of bipartisan consensus to deliver real relief to American families, which is why I voted against it. I encourage you to read my detailed explanation here. My priority in Congress is unchanged: to deliver targeted relief to the constituents I represent. I urge my Democratic colleagues to put partisan wish lists on hold and focus on getting our nation through this unprecedented challenge.
Rep. Tenney named to Small Business and Foreign Affairs Committees, attends first Committee hearings this week

Last week I was named to the House Small Business Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee. I'm proud to have been named to these important committees, and will use my positions to continue fighting for the 22nd Congressional District. My priorities include delivering relief to small businesses, countering China's theft of American intellectual property, protecting jobs, and bringing back American manufacturing. Read more about my priorities.
Rep. Tenney shares testimony from NY22 small businesses at Committee hearing

Earlier this week I attended my first Small Business Committee meeting, which was focused on a proposal by House Democrats to increase the minimum wage. While the proposal may be well-intentioned, I highlighted during the hearing how a minimum wage hike would hurt small businesses as well as lesser-skilled workers throughout New York. It would also cost the economy 1.4 million jobs. I shared testimony from A&P Master Images, a small business in Utica, New York. Owners Howard and Amanda Potter stated a wage hike could be catastrophic for their small manufacturing company. Watch my opening remarks here.
Foreign Affairs Committee Adopts Two Bills on Burma Co-Sponsored by Rep. Tenney

Utica, New York is home to more than 4,000 Burmese refugees, many who still have family in Burma. Earlier this month, Burma's military overthrew the civilian-led government, leading to tragic violence across the country. I recently met with a group of Burmese refugees from Utica to learn more about their concerns and underscore my commitment to addressing this issue. Earlier this month I wrote a letter to Secretary of State Tony Blinken calling on the Biden Administration to sanction those responsible for the coup. This week the House Foreign Affairs Committee passed two bills I supported to condemn the coup and hold those responsible for it accountable. Read my full statement here.
House Democrats refuse to consider Rep. Tenney's "Cuomo Accountability Amendment" to increase transparency

I introduced a commonsense amendment to require Governor Cuomo and every Governor across the country to comply with requests for information from federal agencies regarding COVID-19 data. House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (LA) and New York Representatives Elise Stefanik, Andrew Garbarino, and Lee Zeldin co-sponsored this amendment. House Democrats unfortunately prevented this amendment from even being considered for a vote.
Rep. Tenney demands Governor Cuomo's resignation after latest allegations of sexual harassment by former aide

The allegations of sexual harassment made against Governor Cuomo are deeply disturbing and expose the climate of fear, bullying, and abuse that Governor Cuomo has used to silence critics and escape accountability. New Yorkers have lost faith in Governor Cuomo and this week I renewed my repeated calls for him to resign. If he refuses, Governor Cuomo must be impeached by the New York State Legislature. His crimes must be fully investigated to shed light on the full extent of his wrongdoing. Read my full statement.
NY22 Resident Jessie Clemente turns 103
This week it was such a privilege to wish Utica, New York resident Jessie Clemente a Happy Birthday from the House Floor of Congress. Jessie turned 103 this week and celebrated the momentous occasion with her family. Happy Birthday, Jessie!
Rep. Tenney visits Rome Lab for an update on its important work
Rome Lab is an engine of growth and prosperity for our community and employs more than 1,000. This week, I visited the Lab to meet with its leadership. I received an update on its research and reiterated my strong support for the Lab and its workforce. The Lab is on the cutting-edge of technological advancements in a range of fields vitally important to our national security. Every dollar of funding Rome Lab receives is an investment in our country's security and our region's future.
